Leclerc to Phoenix for a conditional pick in 2007. Cost cutting move.

Doesn't Phoenix have 17 forwards already?

If he can stay healthy, good move for Phoenix.

In a little noticed section on page 597 of the CBA the Coyotes are now allowed to ice two teams and combine their points to establsih playoff qualification and seeding.

Also on sportsnet now ...

I mean I think Leclerc is a decent player, but don't the Coyotes already have too many player ? Aren't these players very similar to Leclerc ?

Bah....if they still don't make the playoffs, they can still trade half the team for another 120 draft picks and prospects who were can't-miss guys 3 years ago.

Leclerc when healthy is a good player. very injury prone. He will be a UFA next summer so he might give Phoenix a really good season in order to cash in next summer.

~**!Barnett's used and abused player emporium!}~ Buy in bulk and save!!! Two 3rd liners for the price of one! We have more forwards than we know what to do with. Im mad because this means guys like Taffe, Kolanos, Sjostrom etc.. arent going to get much ice time, if they even get to stay with the big club

I want to post this here too. If you look at our last dealings you can see it like this:

To PHX:
Mike Leclrec

To ANA:
Teemu Selanne (sign at a little less Leclerc cost)
A draft pick
A little bit of cap room

With all the forwards the 'Yotes have amassed, I doubt the vast majority of the kids even get a whiff of the NHL this season unless the injury bug bites hard. Of the three you mentioned, Kolanos might have the best shot at staying up and that's not a sure thing.

This is a very solid and smart move for PHX, should fit well on the LW onth 3rd or 2nd lline.
