Maxim Lapierre's next contract

Suppose for a moment that the Canucks would re-sign the guy. How much would he fetch?

The guy is a 3rd-line center, a good agitator as well.

I think he's better as a fourth line agitator. Anyway, I'd say up to 1M per year is fine.

He did play #3C with the Habs and the Ducks, though.

He played wing more than center after we got Moore at the trade deadline.

Even before Moore, Metropolit still played more. So technically he was our #4C

He doesn't produce enough to get 3rd line money. I'd say $1M would be the most he's worth.

Maybe he played #3C with the Ducks more than he did as a Hab.

Did he play as a #3C, a #4C or as a bottom-6 winger on the Canucks?

He was 3C but only because Malhotra was injured

Lapierre is averaging 13:47 a game these playoffs, which is twice the TOI of the Nucks' fourth line.

I don't think he's worth 1 million. 13 in 78 games? He's just not very good. He puts up Jared Boll type numbers, except he can't fight.

No KHL team would pay $1M per for that guy! And certainly not Astana or Poprad, where he could end up. Boyd and Dawes fetched $800K each from Astana and there is no indication that Laps is any better than either guy.

Perhaps $700K?

as an RFA, i'm gonna guess $1.1M. and i'd be perfectly content with him as the Canucks 4th line C at that price, as a guy who can eat up some PK minutes and maybe the odd shift as a 3rd line winger if a pot needs stirred.

We don't have Lapierre for points. He's a good 4th liner who ramps it up in the post-season.

He's an RFA so he's not going to the KHL. He makes $900,000 now, he'll get $1,000,000 next year.

Carlyle tried him in a 3rd line role but he was completely ineffective offensively and didn't fit anywhere else so we got rid of him. After witnessing his antics in the finals I'm glad we did, he's one of the more dishonourable players around.

Despite the antics, he's extremely valuable defensively. He's only had 2GA in the playoffs.

He played more #3C than he did top-6 minutes. But most of his ice time on the Habs was as a bottom-6 winger or as a #4C. At least he's a decent shutdown forward. Also, his QO would entitle him to $1M per; would the Canucks give him that QO?

There are pending RFAs that signed for less than their QOs: Sergei Kostitsyn, for instance. The guy had a QO of $650k but was signed for $550k.

Boll can't skate and kill penalties, Lappy can.

Prior to last night he had only been on the ice for 1 goal against in 280:00 minutes in these playoffs. Not bad for a big guy that can really throw the body around.

I'd say 2 years, $1mil per. Regardless of some of Lapierre's distractions he's shown he can elevate come playoff time and that's where the Canucks are looking to do damage. Small price to pay to add that much size, physicality, speed and reliable defensive play.

THIS!

Even if Lapierre had ARB rights, I wouldn't mind giving him up too 1.25 or so.
The guy rivals Burrows Raymond Kesler for speed on the ice! And those 3 guys are quick!
Vancouver is building a solid team of speed, and its shown that it can n will continue to win us games. Lapierre will always have a spot on my team if he plays this way again in October. Points for him are just a plus IMHO. He's here to do the protypical bottom 6 player's role, hit agigitate, play responsible. So far he has been a huge bright spot in the light of Manny missing 2 months.
