I don't know Solc, so I won't make comments about him. But I think it's good that CSLH wants to have it's own full time job coaches, who will be working on their projects and with youth NT's. I think it's better than hiring random people for every new season.

I´d say that also depends on who those people working on it full time are.....

That interview says a lot about his character.

U23 - fiction

Some time ago earlier during this season I've heard that CSLH was considering to create Czech U23 team and let it play some international games in the future (I think Russians do something like that). I don't know if or when that's gonna happen. But I wanted to look at it and try just for fun to guess how the roster of such team could look in the next season (11/12). We easily know how look our U20 and U18 teams, but we don't know how would look our U23 team, because it doesn't exist yet, and it's also good view of the future. I was not sure about eligibility, so I just took players born in years 1989-1992. I also included players from NA, because I wanted to know how would look the best possible U23 team. It's just my try and I'm aware of that some of those picks might be questionable.

Goaltenders (3x)
Marek Mazanec (1991)
Jakub Sedláček (1990)
Tomáš Vošvrda (1989)

Defensemen (8x)
Radko Gudas (1990)
Jakub Jeřábek (1991)
Michal Jordán (1990)
Tomáš Kundrátek (1989)
Jan Piskáček (1989)
Vladimír Roth (1990)
David Štich (1989)
Tomáš Voráček (1990)

Forwards (14x)
Rudolf Červený (1989)
Jan Eberle (1989)
Petr Holík (1992)
Jan Káňa (1990)
Robert Kousal (1990)
Jan Kovář (1990)
Tomáš Kubalík (1990)
Ondřej Roman (1989)
Vladimír Růžička (1989)
Petr Strapáč (1989)
Roman Szturc (1989)
Tomáš Vincour (1990)
Roman Vlach (1989)
Jakub Voráček (1989)

1989 - 12x
1990 - 10x
1991 - 2x
1992 - 1x

Obviously the biggest star of this group is Jakub Voráček... it will be interesting to see if somebody from younger players than 1992 born will be able to come close to him. Probably Frk and Jaškin could do it, but it's not guaranteed at all. Maybe Mrázek will become next season as quality prospect as Voráček was, but who knows.

Mrazek is easily better than Mazanec and I would definitely prefer him over Sedlacek. And easily the best prospects among mentioned goalies. Krejcik is better D than T.Voracek and at the end of the season I liked him much more than Jerabek or Roth.
Jan Buchtele belongs into the mix of forwards too. I would prefer Robin Hanzl and Lukas Radil over Cerveny without doubt.

Yeah, thx for your correction! I was thinking about all of those you mentioned, but I had it based only on limited viewing of course. And I completely forgot Mrazek was 1992 born, otherwise I'd put him there too.

Hmm it seems not too many young guys are putting up numbers in the Top Senior league which is disappointing. No young players making an impact like Kruger in Sweden, Tarasenko and Kuznetsov in Russia and Granlund, Pulkinnen Armia in Finland. Plus the players I mentioned are exceptionally young and playing in a higher quality league which speaks volumes. Disappointing that even the 89 borns cannot make an impact in the league. One player u23 from this list in the NHL fulltime is also very disappointing. I am fearing for Czech hockeys future. Good right now at Senior level but maybe not in a few years.

You're right. It is disappointing and I agree that le'ts say 5 years from now the Senior team won't be as competitive as it is now. On the other hand some of them still can become solid players. For example Červenka was complete no name at this age. Recently it looks to be quite usual that Czech players start to make impact when they are about 25, earlier it's rare these days.

Cervenka wasn´t complete no name, he was solid at World juniors in 2005 where Czech team finished third.

I also forgot to mention another two players who could make such a team, Roman Horak and Adam Polasek.

Do the Czech junior NT coaches check their facts or do they like looking for excuses as much as the Slovak ones? I was just about to read the interview with Bukač Jr. about the Czech U16 team on hokej.cz and I found this one:

Quote:
"The opponent used their strongest team, so our boys couldn´t skate with them...." he says about the three games in Slovakia..... I really would have expected more from him....

Everybody says something like that from time to time. Problem would be if they said such things after every game again and again, which is not happening. And I also don't think it was meant like excuse for loss, basically he said Slovak players there were better than Czech.

Not really, he said exactly that the Slovak team was in full power, which is very different than saying Team A is better than Team B. And this is the second time I´ve seen him say this about these three games, so it seems that he really didn´t know the truth, which is kind of strange tbh, one would expect him to know it, it´s a part of his job after all....

Mainly Czech NT coaches usually know very little about opposing teams, they usually have very little idea if opposing team brought the strongest roster or how many top players are missing. It´s sad but it´s true.

I just noticed that CSLH plans to form U19 team for the next season separated from U20 with it's own international schedule. Great move

Czech Republic will be host country for 2012 U18-WJC. I hope it will take place in Brno or Zlín, so I could see a lot of games live.
