It's on Canadiens Official Twitter as well. 1 year contract. Seems fair enough. He earned it with his play last year. Whether he's a bottom 6 guy or a spare forward remains to be seen.
No brainer to bring him back, good utility player in the bottom 6. Not the most skilled guy but works his tail off, brings some size and goes to the net...plus a good attitude and positive influence on the young guys.
Since his callup last year...88 GP 17-19-36(0.41 PPGM) playing an average of 11 minutes a night. That's well above average production for 4th line minutes(on average).

Gill, Kosty and Darche all back for one more year. Darche got (and deserved) a raise but it still cheap, the others didn't. Hardly earth-shattering, but these are good signings.
I like the move, BUT it does eat up a roster spot. Between Darche and Kostitsyn, the odds of seeing Pouliot back have likely diminished. And/Or the odds of us being players on guys like Cody McCormick or Maxime Talbot as some wanted in the line-up thread have all but disappeared.
Happy with this signing. The guy is a class act and costs peanuts for what he brings to this team. I'd rather have Darche be a 13th forward then one of our young players in Hamilton...but he'll probably play full time as he's capable of potting 10-15 goals and 30 points.
I'm glad I'm not the only one in Montreal who sees the tremendous amount of value this guy brings to our team. He isn't a perfect player but he'll do anything the coach asks of him and works damn hard. I had him pegged at 700k in my proposal too, he earned it imo
I don't mind him on the 2nd PP, he brings size in front of the net and decent hands enough to finish. How is that a bad thing?
Darche is a good warrior for us and he gives it all but if we have to rely on him again to play on the PP, it will be because of our lack of depth and offense. It would not be the end of the world if he was on the 2nd PP but I would rather have someone with better offensive skills ... and with the same will.
It would mean that some players failed if he gets PP time before Camy, Pleky, AK, Gionta, Gomez, MaxPac, Eller and DD...
