Some good things (I think) about 2011-2012: It's Moen's and Spacek's last year of contract°~~~ finally? Also first year of Leblanc in the AHL :S and having a healthy D squad (no jynx)
I`m hoping the Habs can now sign these two for a combined 7.5 million. That would leave us approx 10.5 million to sign a top 6 forward and fill out the roster.

Is this possible....I hope so.
Markov won't make less than what he is making already, nearly 6 million.
Gorges deserve to get at least as much as Gill: 2,2- 2,5 a year

And I would spend 4- 4,5 on Wiz.
If we're keeping Markov, Wizz can only be signed (realistically) if Spacek is moved (which I would be in favour of, but may be difficult).
I could see Markov taking a little less. Maybe 5-5.3 on a 1-2 year contract.
Gorges I expect to be signed to a longer-term deal for more than Gill, maybe 2.75-3 per for 3-4 years. But if they can't agree on that, 1-2 years at Gill's money sounds reasonable.
Either way, Markov + Gorges for 7.5M or under would be extremely difficult to achieve. You're not that far off, but that number sounds low. Under 8.5 should/could be doable.

I would be annoyed if Markov got 6 million considering the last 2 years for him. I think 5 is reasonable. Wiz I can`t see the Habs signing because there are to many bodies on the blue line and the have to spend money on a top 6 forward.

I don't think they have to. Thre is no one really interesting available on the UFA market, and they don't have the assets to get one in a trade. That is why they re-sign A.K.
I am expecting the same top six. + An addition to the bottom 6. + A new back up goalie.

Let's remember that Markov is the senior Hab and if I can say the most talented or most able to control the pace of a game.Gorges is also a veteran now and definitely a minute muncher that can be inserted on any pairing for a short term. Both very respected players on the ice as well as in the dressing room. This season will be a rewarding experience for all the Habs and fans,I can smell success and its coming from the Bell Center.

I am actually having a hard time finding players who were pushing 40 when they made a succesful comback in the NHL. Can anyone help me out?
In any case, take the Jagr money and make a push for Leino. The Flyers can't keep them all!
Thing is there's a big difference between going over to the KHL to play a few seasons and then come back having always been a PPG NHLer and KHLer, and some guy like Claude Lemieux who took 5 years off. Jagr is in the best shape of his career, did you honestly think his talent just packed up and left?
Guys who made the come back? Don't know how old Mario was but he did it and they're around the same talent level. I do however see plenty of players who never stopped playing hockey who still are competitively such as Recchi. I don't see why a more talented younger version of him would fail. Maybe if he was small and lost a ton of his speed but Jagr was never small and he most certainly wasn't known for his speed. He was known for his high end skill level.
I've always said that it's gonna be closer to 12mil for 2 years or 15 million for 3.
No way Markov takes less money on a short term deal. That's a lose lose for him.
And if any you were in his spot (and you were honest with yourselves) you would not accept that either.

They gonna give the money saved with Hamrlik's departure to Wiz.
You never have enough healthy, NHL caliber d-men. The injuries last season proved it. The canuck's season was saved by their defensive corp depth.

Re-signing Kostitsyn has nothing to do with what free agents may be available.
I don't think the 7.5mil is too far off, could go a little over. What I would like to see is the Habs sign Gorges to a 3 year 7mil contract, 2mil the first year and 2.5 for the second and third years. Gives a cap hit of 2,333,333. I think his injury this season may save the team a little money. I also don't think he gets more than Polak in STL, 2.75mil per. I don't see Markov taking less money unless the team gives him term. I would like to see a 4 year 20mil deal. Saves the team a little on the cap, dropping his per down to 5mil, but is risky for them because of his recent injuries. Might entice Markov to sign, though he takes a little less money he is given security with more years. That's what I would like to see.

I figure their combined cap hits will be about 8.25-8.5 mil...5.75 Markov and 2.5-2.75 for Gorges.
I hope your right, because I have been an advocate to bring back Wisniewski.
However, I just don't see it happening...
I don't either. If anything I'd want us to trade Wiz' righs for Laich's or Ericsson's. Would make me a happy camper. Or if we do sign wiz, it better be without any form of NTC, hint hint.
