So no GM would be that stupid. It's actually only on HFboards where you actually get some people who think Eller + 2 1sts is going to get you a superstar center like Malkin, Staal, etc. Never going to happen not in a million years not unless the player is overpaid and on the decline hence Gomez.
woah chill out... I just said that some people here wouldn't trade Eller and two first for a franchise player if it were possible. I never said I expected it was possible.

I think tambellini is throwing the 1 st out there because Carter is being offered around and if it was worth his wild that he would trade the 1 st for carter. Additions would probably be required. But he s letting Holmgren know its out there.

It would be a pricey transaction:

1st 2011
1st 2012
Patches + Eller

Isn't that why GM's have a Blackberry?

I don't think Edmonton would trade the #1 pick straight up for Carter. He has good value but not that high.

Sure you can.

But you better get something great in return.

How about if Habs offer Edmonton their 1st rounder for taking Gomez (with nothing coming to Monteral in return).

Rangers are reportedly poised to buy out Drury's contract in order to have cap space for Brad Richards.

Reportedly Rangers tried to trade Drury to the HABS but discovered Gainey has retired!

What if this is...as good as it gets?

It would be unreal getting this high in the draft and not picking one of the few frenchies involved. Especially since noone is a lock this year.

The 1st, IMO, is rarely worth the price tag unless you know the guy will become a big stud in the league. I don't know much about this year's top 5 but the fact the Oilers want to trade it says a lot to me..

WTF does french have to with anything ? Only in Montreal. I wonder how is the rink thing going in Quebec city ?

He's in Quebec, not Montreal.

This is one reason I'd like Quebec/Quebecor to get a team.

You do know that it's the Montreal Canadiens, right? Not the Calgary Flames.

Euh ? I don't want players on my team because of the language they speak ! I guess if we had a team full of Brunets, we would the cup every year.

But if you have the chance to get your hands on a french star, you jump on it. 7 million frenchies would appreciate it.

Just sayin'

But if you have the chance to get your hands on a star, everybody with Canadiens allegiance would appreciate it, not just the Frenchies.

Just sayin.

I am French.

Nobody on these boards cares how many French players plays for this team as long as they perform well. We do not want a French team, we want the best team.

Molson, Gainey, Gauthier and Martin want the best team not the French team. The proof is our only French players are Darche, Weber and Desharnais.

Go see what Peladeau and Labeaume think.

I'm wondering if Edmonton would consider 5 1st rounders in 5 years. It's not the deepest draft. It'd give them a lot of good depth for their ambitions down the road, + they'd get a top 5 pick next year. Heck, for the sake of it, give them Pouliot for free, he might do well on a team that needs top 6 players.

It's never going to to happen, but I'd draft Larsson and have it on the team next year. He's already in a men's league and he the best player of the draft.

On a another note, if I were the Bruins, I'd try to trade Seguin for the 1st overall and I'd draft Larsson !

Weber speaks french.

Desharnais and Darche are Canadian but we call them french because that is the language they speak.
