Gorges deserves his 3 million. He's the type of player (along with Gill) that are money in the playoffs. Also if injuries arise, he can play top 4 minutes.

You guys will have to pony up quite a lot ($6-7M range, perhaps even $8M) to pry Markov from us. Wisniewski could be had for about $4.7-5.5M per.

Markov 8 millions ... you can't be serious.

No team will give him a 8 millions multi years contract even if he hits UFA. Because yes, if he hits UFA, it's because Pierre Gauthier did'nt want to give him a long term contract and there is no way he get multi years 8 millions contract... even 7 is a dream.

Bit much in my opinion. I would say he could range anywhere under that but for a normally consistent bottom pairing defenseman. 3m+ is somewhat high.

Doubt any club would give the Habs much for Gorges until he is at least played since his injury. I wouldn't worry about trading Gorges right now. If he is traded it might come during the season. If it brings Habs a bonafide goal scorer I am all for it

I agree that my original estimation was a bit high. But I think it'll be closer to three than two.

Georges will sign a 5-6 Years at 2.5m !! He is that type of player that prefers to be stable for a long time then make the big money

how is this a rumor? Carter to the jackets is a Rumor, the habs trying to sign their top 2 UFA d men is logic

Yeaaah, Gorges is not worth 3M. I could see him get Gill type of money but 3M is too much IMO.

I still don't see Wiz back in Montreal. Markov, Gorges? sure. But unless Montreal finds a team to take Spacek (not that he's useless, he's probably worth at least 2.75 mil right now) they won't have the cap flexibility to keep Wiz. What is more likely is that they find a team to trade for his rights. Probably one of those "If we sign him, you get X, if we don't you get nothing" type deals.

It's not like Spacek has 2-3 years left. He only has one year left. I am sure one team out there would be willing to take him.

Probably PG will bend over and give:
15M$ for 3 to Markov, maybe more
8-9M$ for 3 to Gorges
Wiz will go to the highest bidder

And habs will fill the holes offensively by signing a somewhat cheap pre has-been veteran Halpern-style.

I believe that if he had played the whole season, he'd be "worth" $3M. His stats aren't the kind that probably win over an arbitration hearing if it came to that, however, so as an RFA coming off an injury, he probably gets less than he's "worth". I wouldn't have any problem at all with him at $3M. He's better than Gill by a long shot. And more important to the team's future. But at the same time, since circumstances seem to have conspired to make him "worth" less than he's "worth"... ... I'd think something around $2.5M is probably fair.

I can see Markov get around 5.5m, Gorges around 2.5m and as long as wiz is willing to settle for around 4.5m, he will stay in Montreal. If he wants over 5m, then he will get it someplace else. If Columbus lose Hedja, Spacek could end up there.
