Damn that stings, but I would probably take that deal.

I wouldn't take the deal. Carter is the one on the block... I was aware that they were fielding offers for Richards but it would take a lot.

I would take that deal for Carter every day of the week, and twice on sunday. However, That deal doesn't come anywhere near what I would accept for Richards.

Richards is on the level of untouchable. One of the only untouchable players in the league. I consider Crosby, Ovechkin and Stamkos on that level too.

Because I don't consider Mike Richards a greatly superior player to Jeff Carter. I like him loads better and I think how he plays the game is a great example. That said, just from looking at the guy you can see he doesn't train his body how he needs to to play out his career contract with effectiveness. I think Jeff Carter does.

That and the addition of Filatov is very very attractive to me and I think Varacek's game works very well on Carter's wing.

Am I the only one who thinks that Filatov won't amount to much?

You might be alone.

Filatov does NOTHING for me.

If Richards goes to CBJ, Umberger gets added, not Filatov. I'm thoroughly unimpressed by Filatov as it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if I were. In addition to the reasons I mentioned above is the obvious reason that would also apply to a Jeff Carter trade, clearing salary, and I also think that what Mike Richards brings off the ice is not as needed with a coach like Laviolette and other veteran voices in the room.

I don't think I have to tell you that they'd never do that deal. Filatov doesn't get me super excited, but if they're going to add him to an initial proposal of 8th and Voracek, it's nothing to sneeze at IMO.

100% agree. But I still wouldn't do it and glad Homer declined.

Contrary to popular belief, I actually think this team isn't led by just Richards. And no it's not Pronger either.

I think the make up of this team and locker room is greatly influenced by a combination of Richards AND Carter. My biggest fear is that moving one mentally moves the other.

I think together they have a much bigger impact on the overall make up of this team than many believe; almost to the point where I believe Richards got the "C," but it's a weight that both carry together as locker room leaders.

As much fun as the off season can be... God, I wish it was just over all ready. All these more or less silly rumours/ramblings of madmen are killing me.

It's making me sick, and we have a couple more weeks of insanity till the draft and then free agency.

Clearly no. I thought he had an issue with Hitch, right? Well he isn't the first young player to have an issue with Hitch, likely not the last. If we could get him in Adirondack, that could be just what the Dr. ordered. We have some decent muckers down there at forward, we need some skill.

Filatov was supposed to have a breakout season this year and did not. Barely even saw any NHL time. I'm not going to pretend like I know the entire situation over in Columbus because I really don't. But Filatov has had some trouble staying in the NHL for whatever reason.

Oh, he definitely has loads of skill, but even after they fired Hitch, he hasn't done too much. He went 9-11-20 in 36 games last year with Springfield. In 2008/09 with Syracuse, he went 16-16-32 in 39 games. I don't know, I don't really have any basis for thinking it, but I just don't see him panning out.

I know he's a smaller guy, maybe he's just not slick enough to make up for it at the highest level, where even the big D are very good skaters.

Hey, I'm dying here and you're downgrading it to a a little cold...

If only we were still playing. Somehow these kind of stories didn't show up last year. Though, we still ended up trading Gagné, so... I don't know.

I might go off into the woods for a few weeks to try to keep what little sanity I still have left.

This is one of those rumors that does NOT make me happy, especially since it involves Richards.

Trade Richards, Ponger, Carter, Timonen, Hartnell, Giroux, and Versteeg.

Go from having last to best prospect pool.

If they trade Richards, I may take a break from Flyers hockey.

I don't know how anything you said in your post discredits Eskin's information as unreliable. Most of the things you mentioned turned out to be true and things the Flyers weren't open about.
Anthony SanFilippo posted in another forum that the Flyers organization has been doing this for years. He said they would leak info to the media, the media would write about it, then the Flyers would deny it. This all came about at the time the whole Lavi/Richards aren't talking stuff came out.

I hate to say it but I feel the same way. I probably would just not get centre ice. Instead of Homer getting fired for one inept decision after another, they're talking about getting rid of the captain? Puhlease.
