Is he Right handed? I can't remember, and his contract status.
RFA and leftie.

Buffalo needs more depth in D, and Ballard could step in and play big minutes.
Buffalo doesn't need more depth. If by depth you mean bottom 4 pairing d-men. What they need is a partner for Myers, preferably a defensive d-man or two-way-d-man with good skating ability and a reliable outlet pass.

What they don't need: d-man prospects, PMD that are a little suspect in their own end and depth d-men that aren't used to playing over 20 minutes.

I like what Ballard brings on paper, but frankly I'm a little worried about this year. Whether or not it's Vigneault's fault that he's struggling is only relevant when judging if he's going to rebound or not.

I wouldn't base much on his performance in game 4 SCF, since he'd been sitting since the SJS series and it was his first ever SCF game. He was probably more nervous than Chris Tanev.
This isn't about judging his performance, this is about gauging his trade value which has dropped considerably since last year. As I said, whether it's justified or not is not the question. Maybe Canucks fans feel he can rebound. In that case it's the best to hold on to him as I doubt that many GMs would feel very comfortable taking on $4m for 4 years and give up a player that's valuable to their current roster. He could rebound like Bieksa or he could end up as a bad contract like Komisarek. That's a significant risk.

You've basically described all of what Ballard brings to the table, the fact he's been suspect is that he isn't playing with full confidence, since one mistake n he is outta the line up. But Aaron Rome could take 3 minors in the game, and still play as many minutes as Hamhuis.

I'm pretty sure most have conceded that Hoff will be lost to a more lucritive offer, and we'll need to allow Ballard to play outta this slump. Bieksa was given the opportunity I don't see why Ballard can't be given the same chance.

Oh, I know, that's why I said "I like what Ballard brings on paper".

Of course you would like Hemsky for Edler, heck, I bet every NHL team would like to send a overrated injury prone second liner for a young #1 Dman who can hit like a rock.

- Grabner (ugh)
- Boedker
- Voracek

The problem is all of these players are untouchable.

In conclusion, I've added nothing to this thread.
Nash - Cap hit too big
ryan - ideal to play with kesler
jvr - i doubt philly lets go of him
parise - id kill for him to wing for kes
grabner - ugh indeed
boedker - possibly
voracek - would be pretty nice.

AT DRAFT

Parise (RFA rights)
Hedberg (Back up for Canucks, UFA rights)

for

Schneider (Future #1 taking over for Brodeur)
Ballard (Devils lack scoring from defense, and desperately needs a PWD)
Shirokov (RFA rights, fellow Russian winger, maybe that will help Kovalchuk)
1st (29th or 30th overall) in 2011

They have no need for Shirokov and Ballard would not get it done. They would probably want Edler and that ends the conversation. Also, there's no way parise signs below 6.1 mil (Sedin's cap) even if we somehow get him.

Send a message via MSN to Edler Von Gud
To Vancouver:

healthy Mikael Samuelsson

To everyone wanting a Top 6 RW:

Go **** yourselves

Sure it would be great to upgrade our Top 6, but realisticly what team is going to give us a Top 6 power forward RW who will be an improvement on Sammy and is also cap friendly? teams will generally keep those players.

I could see something like that happen. The Canucks are high on Bailey.

What about Jason Pominville? Consistent, usually healthy, two way right winger. Or Jochen Hecht?

Wait I'm confused. Vancouver was the highest scoring team in the league this year when both Raymond and Sammy were hurt for large parts of the year and is one game away from a cup. Why exactly do they need help on the second line?

Um...Neither were injured for LARGE parts of the year, just partial.
Second line isn't dangerous at all. Only one that's can score is Kesler on a consistent basis. The acquisition of Higgins will help. Raymond is great in defensive player, but his hands aren't up to par with his foot speed.

Too expensive n too old.

The market we are looking is 22-27 or so, someone who could fit into the younger part of the core, and if the Sedins retire after this contract, could move up the ranks like Kesler.

I think Voracek would be FANTASTIC on Kesler wing and is a little more realistic than Parise.

Ballard
1st
Schneider (tho CLB doesn't really need him....)
Schroeder

FOR

Voracek
