I think that as next season unfolds they will have surpassed Thuresson, at least in the eyes of Preds management. There's a small window where you can go from being "prospect" to "depth," and I think that window closed on Andreas.

I can't find this info anywhere, but do we have any prospects that we lose at 5 pm if not signed?

I saw your tweet last night, but couldn't respond from my phone (damn new Twitter app!)...

Just asked @NHLPredsInsider about the deadline and Stefishen's rights in particular. There are no players needing to be signed today and Stefishen's rights remain property of the team - although I haven't quite figured out why yet...

Yeah, i'm not totally sure that's correct, and I wouldn't say that the source would be totally reliable on the subject.

Stefishen is not listed as needing to be signed by today on the list in the prospect thread on the trade forum either...

I'm thinking he might have fallen into a loophole. If he left Ohio State before June 1st of last year, then he would've needed to be signed, but since he is 3 years past his draft year, then I think he might still be classified under the NCAA rules and the team could keep his rights until June 1st of his graduating classes year (next summer)...

Just for fun...

What current Preds Prospects do you think will make in the NHL some day. we'll say "making it" is 150 games.

Me personal picks, in order of how confidant I am in them:

Blum
Josi
Halischuk
Geoffrion
Ellis
Lindback (heck, HF still has him listed....so...)
Ekholm
Beck
Watson
Latta

And i don't think any one else will reach 150. Agree? Disagree? That almost seems like too many.....

Stefishen traded to Washington for a conditional draft pick in the 2013 draft (according to cooper it's a 7th)

I have never understood what generates trades like these. I sometimes think scouts and asst gms have an unspoken agreement amongst themselves to do stuff like this just so their bosses will think they are busy.

Neither could Ohio State...

Stefishen had 67 points in 68 games this past year in the WHL, but was playing on a line with #6 overall pick Brent Connolly from Tampa Bay. At Ohio State, between bouts of mono, Stefishen played on a line with Carolina's Zac Dalpe a lot.

IMO, he's always had skill, but I've never seen more than flashes here and there. At camps I've thought he didn't stand out from the rest of the group and unfortunately I think he's honestly just been passed on the organizational depth charts and was no longer in the plans.

With the condition on the pick being that it is only granted if he signs any form of an NHL contract in the next two years, I think we can say that Stefishen has a lot of work to go before he's considered a legitimate NHL prospect.

I agree that, on the whole, he'll probably never pan out...and I don't know the circumstances behind his exit from Ohio State, I just would have liked to have seen at least an AHL deal for him. If we can give Ryan Flynn a contract, it would be nice to take a flyer on a guy that has at least scored at some level.

It is a little known fact that Nashville is the site of an ongoing running bet between the Hockey God of Offense and the Hockey God of Defense. They're pulling out all the stops for this one, and the rest of the Hockey Gods are watching with much interest.

Although I understand that Holy Offense may well consider calling foul since the Hockey God Of Goaltending decided to descend to Earth in human form and work as a goaltending coach down there.

Fenton gives opinion on AHL prospects.

Good god we are a deep team

I really hope Josi makes it next year. Sounds like Fenton has a man crush on him. Gopreds9 approves of this

We have a very deep prospect pool. While we lack a star scoring forward or two and could use a little more balance on the blueline, we've drafted very well since Fenton took over the draft and are well stocked pretty much everywhere.

So what does our franchise expect of Watson? How important is he?

He could be Ryan Kesler -- defensively responsible goal scorer...

...or he could be Vernon Fiddler...defensively responsible who puts in 12-15 a season.

Basically, if you read the write-ups on him, it states that his defensive game and intangibles are great, and he shows offensive promise, but that's the biggest question mark. In all likelihood, I think he'll be somewhere in between the two I mentioned...a mike fisher\david legwand type.

Well if he turned out to be a Fiddler id say bust, but a Leggy/Fisher type player id be fine with. Hopefully if he has good linemates he could be a 60 pt guy.

When do they expect him to crack the roster?

Predators Prospect Camp will take place from June 27th to July 4th this year at Centennial Sportsplex. A more detailed schedule laying out the ice sessions will be released closer to the camp, but this might be a nice opportunity for some of our new Catbird fans to make a trip up to Nashville to check things out, enjoy the sights and sounds of the city, and get familiar with the organization.

July 2nd there is an AC/DC, Motley Crue, New York Dolls concert at Bridgestone Arena and the next night U2 will be rocking out at the Vanderbilt football stadium downtown.
