Bouwmeester to Ottawa

I know this is a few days old but I haven't seen a thread on this yet... unless i missed it. What would it take for Ottawa to acquire Bouwmeester? IMO i don't think Bouwmeester will waive his NTC to go there but if he would what would it take? Can something around
Ott: Bouwmeester +
Cgy: Spezza

Not sure why a team would want to acquire him with his contract...

You aren't getting Spezza for Bouwmeester with 15 +'s.

I said this before, but Bouwmeester has negative value and there aren't many teams that will take him.

Why would Ottawa trade Spezza for Boumeester? So they can't get worse offensively? Think of both teams before you post something. Answer this. Why would Ottawa (a rebuilding team) ever be interested in giving up their #1 Center?

I didn't say WE should do the Spezza for Bouwmeester + for sure it was a thought. Eklund was the one that said this.

Better question is, why would Ottawa SPEND 6.5 million on Bo, when they got a number of star caliber d prospects coming up and they got ZERO star quality forwards after Spezza?

Nevermind Bo's poor play and big contract and all. Ottawa does not need dman PERIOD.

If they are gonna spend $$, spend it on Brad Richards.

So we have:

Phillips
Karlsson
Kuba
Gonchar
Carkner
Lee
Cowen
Rundblad

Who will all be jockeying for a spot next season... and we should be going after J-Bo?

guess my question is why is CGY looking to move him...cap space, uninspired play for that contract, both?

It's BS. Spezza is going nowhere.

Every team has a couple of guys you just don't trade because it'll set your franchise back. Nash - CBJ, Iginla - CGY, Getzlaf - ANA, Staal - CAR, and in Ottawa, Spezza. That doesn't mean these guys are interchangeable because obviously some are better than others. But it does mean that these players are worth way more to their current team than any offer coming in for them.

He just won't be moved.

2 Canadian teams in one rumour? Eklund must be struggling for hits.

Didn't people say Gomez had negative value before the Rangers traded him? I have to figure Bouwmeester could fetch more then Gomez got

It's ****ing Eklund.

He's worse than Damien Cox. He's worse than Garrioch. He's worse than Brennan.

Why is there even an Eklund spot allowed on here?

Why wouldn't he?

Calgary isn't any closer to competing for a Cup than Ottawa is, if anything they are just spinning there wheels and have ZERO prospects to speak of.

Ottawa is nations capital, better city than Calgary is, less cold, eastern time zone etc etc,

I've yet to see or read about ANY player that Ottawa went after in the past and refused to sign in Ottawa unlike some western Canadian cities and even the zoo in Toronto or Montreal.

If Bouwmeester's going to Ottawa I'd imagine Gonchar's going back

If Spezza's involved, there'd have to be A LOT going to Ottawa

if there's any truth to this rumour, it's probably a short term salary dump for a long term one. so ottawa takes bouwmeester and his contract, calgary has to take on kuba and gonchar and maybe gets a decent prospect or a 2nd round pick.

They won't deal 1st round pick just to move Gonchar and get back Bowmeester. They don't need Bouwmeester, if there was a need and he was playing better I could see it. They didn;t even go after him when he was a UFA. They won't want him now when they need to make room for top prospects and he is overpaid and struggling in his home town.

I'll tell people one thing they don't know, Jay Bouwmeester will get traded to Dallas in the 2012-13 trade deadline, and Dallas makes a cup run and loses in the final, they'll make all sorts of trades, won't say, i've said enough.

JBow to Ottawa (e2)

Hello,

Just finished talking with my sources, huge news coming out Calgary. Calgary and Ottawa, both teams looking to contend next season, are in talks. I'm hearing not a trade, but a BIG trade. This trade will shake up the hockey world. Murray has assets to spare, including draft picks. Ottawa's 6th overall is supposedly up for grabs, if the price is right. Feaster has his eyes on Jonathan Cheechoo and Francis Lessard, while Ottawa has been coveting Bouwmeester.

Calgary would win this deal if it were made. They have a great, young nucleus of talent. Cheechoo and Lessard could be the veterans that push Calgary to the top.

In other news...
I'm hearing Ovechkin to Nashville (e3)
Orpik and NYR (e2)
and Brodeur for Semin (e3)
Spezza has also been gaining interest.

I'll be having lunch with Burt the Dog and Kevin Allen (USA Today) this afternoon, discussing the the latest rumours and news. TTYL, podcast will be posted this evening.

More to come...
