Brzg thinks he's worth 6.5. Since he is the best goalie FA out there right now, he can name his price. The fact that the Flyers traded to get his rights tells him "man these guys really want me, well they are gonna have to PAY!!" He's gonna milk Holmgren for as much as he can get! If he gets on a Cup contender then thats icing on the cake, but money comes first.

Paying 6.5 mil for a goalie would be foolish. We'd have to gut the team. It would not be worth it.

I would think Snider has to issue a statement real soon to address this. Eskin is a ****ing moron. but pretty ballsy to say that if he was just making it up .

This is a brutal time for sure

I'm still not taking his word on it, but it looks like this isn't going away.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. The word of Howard Eskin doesn't really fit that bill. Has any other reporter independently passed on the rumor?

Signing him for 6.5 mil would turn us into the Rangers. More than just Carter would have to go, and they'd have to be replaced by very cheap, greatly inferior talent.

edit: or they could keep Carter and replace half the damned team at league minimum.

Yea I know. And Carter gets a small raise, and I expect Powe and Nodl may get small raises. I wasn't trying to provide a gloabl perspective, but just confining it to those players who may be affected by the Bryzgalov move.

Take it for what its worth but it looks like the flyers aren't really open to trading Carter from this article. Columbus and the flyers have had talks about acquiring Steve Mason but Holmgren went out and acquired Bryz rights instead. Also says the Flyers are looking to move up in the draft, and were talking about getting the 8th overall but not for carter.. and any deal doesn't look likely for the 8th overall if carter isn't involved

I also posted this in the Bryz thread but thought it could go here as well

One last thing.. ******* Eskin... guys a huge *********.. I don't and won't believe anything he reports on the Flyers

Yeah I ignore Panaccio as much as possible. I really like Morganti and warming up to Servalli even though he is a 25 year old who styled himself up to look like he's in his late 30s.

I love Richards as a player but if all of this is true and something comes out about Richards and why Snider wants him gone I might not be as angry and trying to burn the organization.
To who? Fans of the Flyers? No Flyer fans give him any credibility so he has nothing to lose. Making such a bold statement may perk the ears of a casual fan, but they're not gonna care one way or another.

Eskin shouldn't be taken seriously enough to get a 10 page thread.

Eskin has such disdain for the Flyers (and hockey in general). He refuses to discuss the the Flyers long enough for him to even have time to bash them.

A couple of days after the Flyers were knocked out, he goes on the air and says why anyone is even talking about the Flyers or the NHL anymore is beyond me. Yet he won't SHUT UP about basketball and "LeFraud." Man I can't stand Howard. Rob Charry is the same way. They're both anti-pucks.

At least Glen Mac and Rob Ellis will talk NHL a little here and there.

The one decent source I have told me that the Flyers are, indeed, talking to the Blue Jackets, but that the order of players that would be moved is:

Versteeg
Hartnell (if he waives the NTC)
Carle
Carter

Versteeg, Carle for #8 pick and Sami Lepisto?

That would be a coup for Holmgren. That right there is practically enough space for Bryz, and that will pick will be a good one.

That would be an amazing trade. Allow us to keep Carter, grab a good prospect, and rid us of two of our most easily replaceable players.

Bill Meltzer
Anthony SanFilippo
Frank Seravalli

I pretty much ignore the rest of the Philadelphia media.

I'm not a fan of Seravalli. Perhaps, I'm being too reactionary, but I wrote him off when he wrote that Bill Guerin had a strong game, when I had watched him play one of the worst games I've ever seen a skater have. I'd never seen so many turnovers by a single player.

Didn't see that one, but yeah that's my order. 1. Meltzer, 2. SanFilippo, 3. Seravalli.

SanFilippo really impressed me during the Richards/Pronger drama a while back. He represents responsible and credible journalism in Philadelphia. He really gets a lot of respect from me.

The only reason I have Meltzer at the top spot is because he comes out with accurate, meaningful, and thought-provoking stuff on an extremely regular basis.

Three is Seravalli mostly because unlike pretty much everyone else, I've never had a real problem with something he's written.
