I still have my laminated newsday with the 1940 and the 1 and 0 crossed out.

I wish I still had my black and white championship hat.

i was on vacation having the greatest week of my life when the Ranger's won the Cup, making it one of the most amazing times in my life. Stinks I wasn't in NYC but I went out that night in my Rangers road jersey and got pretty drunk, stayed out until the sun came up, 1000 random people on the streets must have high fived me. I was all of 20 yrs old.

I remember being at parade in NY. Good times.

Edit: I hope I won't have to wait another 54 years, lol. Hell, I'm not sure I will even be alive.

I was graduating Highschool that year. Me and my friends went to another friends house where his parents were HUGE rangers fans (or so we THOUGHT!).

We go in the basement, and everytime someone checks, shoots, saves, takes a face-off we were all cheering (us teenagers. Not the Parents. They were upstairs doing GOD KNOWS WHAT while the Epic moment of Stanley Cup Game 7 Rangers were on!?!?).

Everytime we got a little louder than normal they would yell down to the stairs to "BE QUIET". I looked at my friend whos house it was and I gave him this, "YOU BETTER SHUT YOUR FRIKKIN PARENTS TRAPS UP RIGHT NOW OR I AM BUSTING YOUR LIP!"
lol

After the game one, the parents called ALL THE PARENTS to come pick us up. I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am 18 here and you called my mom to come get me?

Well they did and my mom did. I was soo pissed. I was missing VITAL POSTGAME COMMENTS, CHEERING. I had tears in my eyes from being in heaven that the Rangers just won.

In the car, my mother looks over to me and said, "What are you crying for? Tell your mother, I'll make it all better. Did they bother you while you were at Dannys house?!"

WTF?!??!?!?!

I was so mad now my mom thinks I am a P-U-$-$-_ and I am missing the post game.

I got home, yelled up to my fathers room, " THEY WON, THEY WON THEY WON!" hE CAME DOWN AND CELEBRATED WITH ME. This is a man who I swear (SERIOUSLY NOT KIDDING) never cracked a smile a day in his life (well, a day in MY life atleast and was a mean old son of a *****)

That night was just a calamity of awesomeness and being p-o'ed too. LOL

(Years later, they gave my father Ativan/lorazepam and now he tells jokes, smiles, tickles his grandkids and just loooooves my daughter). Its AMAZING what medication can do for SOME people. I really think I would have had a MUCH BETTER CHILDHOOD had my father beein on medication LOL

Back to topic at hand.

1994 WAS AWESOME AND I CAN NOT WAIT FOR ANOTHER ONE. And I am sorry to say, I feel as if it is not right around the corner unless we stop needing just ONE MORE HIGH PRICED FREE AGENT.

I was attempting to learn how to walk. As frustrating as it is not having a cup since then, I feel that we're on the right track, but with that said this is a crucial off season. Signings, draft picks, and trades for the wrong or right people will have a tremendous affect on our future. We're at cross roads here.

I was 7 years old, it was the first year I really started watching hockey. <3

My family had just moved from the city to Long Island so I've got some sweet memories of angry Islander fans. With that said, it's been too long - Henrik deserves a Cup. Here's to the next few years and continued development of this franchise.

Aw, you guys miss your hats?

My mom got 3, one for me and all my brothers, mine is the only one that remains I believe.

I was 4...don't remember it at all. Sam said it would last a lifetime, so I'd say I've got a pretty good shot at never seeing one

I was 5. Don't remember much of the game, but I remember riding on my Dad's shoulders at the parade.

This article from The Onion was pretty funny when it came out.

Quote:
NEW YORK—After 54 years of waiting, the New York Rangers finally won the Stanley Cup 15 years ago, defeating the Vancouver Canucks four games to three in 1994. "As long as I live I will never forget this moment," Rangers' captain Mark Messier, who recently confirmed he had not forgotten the moment in the intervening decade and a half, said at the time. Coach Mike Keenan is remembered to have added that the victory "[was] for the greatest fans in the world. This definitely[might have been] the start of a new Rangers dynasty! I can't wait to meet President Clinton. Let's go Rangers!" The 2009 Pittsburgh Penguins had no comment about the year 2024.

Yup, nobody has ever gotten it or asked me about it though, good job catching that lol.

It was Noonans goal, IMO, if you watch the replay, and I always felt a little bad that Noonan never got the credit he deserved for the SC GWG. Mess getting credit for the goal writes a better story anyway.

A small injustice in rangers history.

I actually have to agree with you, i've looked at the replay many, many times, and don't think it's Messier's goal. I can actually understand somewhat how it got credited to him, as he you can see him take a stab at it at almost the right moment, it just doesnt seem like he made contact there. The storyline does work out nicely for them, though I'd hope that doesnt play the part in the scorer's decision (goals by Leetch, Graves, then GWG by Mess to win is almost too perfect)

Messier celebrated like it was his, (thus Sam Rosen announced it as such) though that could be chalked up to 1) just being excited that the puck was in the net no matter who put it in 2) he could've hit a stick/skate anything in that giant scrum and thought it was puck contact. Though I'm sure anti-messier conspiracy theorists could say its just him stealing the glory

Dammit i'm going to have to analyze this thing like the Zapruder film when i get home from work today lol
