I would like to see the Devils, Montreal, or Pens(They played in last years so probs not gonna happen). We played Boston two years ago in the WC, so that would not happen.

If Chicago's in it, it might kill my interest in the game. Give me the Devils, or Montreal, or anyone interesting who hasn't already been in it and might be considered a rival.

The Winter Classic has already become a joke. I don't want to see the same teams in it every 2-3 years; it's rapidly becoming less interesting for me.

Honestly, I'm disappointed the Flyers are in it again so soon. Am I looking forward to seeing it (and hopefully going to it)? Sure, it's cool to see my team. But it's bad for the event and for the league.

How many times are Pittsburgh/Chicago/Washington/us going to be in it every 2-3 seasons before it just kills how special it is?

It should be an event to showcase everyone in the league, not just a handful of big markets. I understand the networks want it that way, but at a certain point the NHL needs to showcase what it has and protect its integrity, not just ***** itself out and ruin the one big ticket marketing thing it actually got right in the last several years.

Pens/Caps won't be in it. Why not the Sabres? Just a suggestion, as it is a rematch from the playoffs, unless it is to be expected that the Sabres will be bad next year.

Eh, I'd rather have the Habs. Which probably won't happen since their a Canadian team. Stupid NHL.

The Devils still draw in decent ratings. Not like the Rangers, obviously, but still something. If you want the chance to promote them in national spotlight while still keeping the game as a division rivalry, this would be a good opportunity for the Devils.

Then again, their name has never been mentioned in any Winter Classic, as far as I can remember. Maybe they're adamant about not participating in it. Who knows?

Also, I completely understand the Rangers reasoning behind it and don't blame them.

I just don't think the league would consider the Devils.

Watch we don't get the Classic now, thanks to the ****ing Rags.

The Flyers draw in too good of ratings for the league to drop them over silly reasons. I can't see them being dropped from the game.

No real rivalry but how about a team like LA or Anaheim?

Bobby Ryan vs. James vanRiemsdyk
Getzlaf + Perry vs. Richards + Carter
Pronger/(Bryzgalov) vs. their old team

Ducks vs. Flyers sounds pretty good.

My favorite choices so far:

1. Rangers
2. Devils
3. Canadiens
4. Ducks
5. (Thrashers)

Original Six, please

The Winter Classic should be between two of the original six NHL teams.

No expansion teams!!!!!

You know that we're not an Original Six team, right? I'm assuming you're a Flyers fan, due to your post history.

Afraid of the distraction? Sure I get it from the teams perspective. Think of the fans perspective though. I'm sure that Rangers fans are just as eager to peek behind the scenes in HBO 24/7 as I am.

Pretty sure that was sarcasm. At least I'm hoping that was sarcasm.

RT @NYP_Brooksie: Will be no surprise, but when NHL schedule is released, confirmed that Rangers will be in Philly for Jan. 2 Winter Classic w/ 24/7 coverage.

I wish they would wait for July 1 for the schedule. The BoG is meeting today to approve the relocation of the Thrashers to Winnipeg, and there was all of his hoopla about "OMG BUT WE MADE 8 SCHEDULES, NONE OF WHICH INCLUDED WINNIPEG IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE"

The coaches will probably be fantastic. Lavi is smart and intense, and Torts is smart and possibly a lunatic. Definitely unhinged.

What an ideal opportunity to release the "Mike Keenan: Vault Collection" recordings.

Ha! That'd be fantastic. I like FlyersGoalScoredBy's thought too:

If Flyers and Rangers play at the WC, that alumni game is gonna be the ****. Lindros should switch teams after the 2nd period.

The Winter Classic would certainly give the Lindros and the Flyers another chance to kiss and make up.

oooh. Could we have Recchi play in the alumni game? Dude just retired, he'd still be in good shape.

edit: haha...I like that. "The Lindros"

I'd love to see Recchi in a Flyers jersey one last time in the alumni game.
