doubtful. he set this franchise back a while, yes, but why would the owner fire him. as a fan you think, if the team isn't doing well it obviously calls for the gm's head. however, sather, despite the fact that he really messed up some signings, has made his owner a lot of profit. big splashes mean a lot of hype - which mean more sold tickets and merchandise and buzz about the team. he's made dolan money so he stays. i blame the ny market for that moreso than dolan. any smaller market for hockey and hes gone by 2004, because the fans wouldnt commit to the team and thus the owner would be losing money. ny is the only place where you can have a losing franchise and still make money... besides the mets and islanders, but still you get what i mean.
Name the big splash Sather has made. Casual sports fans know who Carmelo Anthony is. They do not know who Marian Gaborik is.
The ability for Erixon to get off quick wristers and slappers to the net (even if its on one foot, or off-balanced) is a HUGE positive for the Rangers even strength and on the PP (if hes used there).
Replacing Gilroys weak shot with his ability to pull the trigger quickly and ONE TIME A SHOT (yes he actually can one time a shot! holy ****!) will be a very welcome addition to the Rangers defense.
Thank God. Great trade from the looks of these videos. This Erixon kid has some talent. With the way McDonaugh plays, Sauer rock-solid. Staal and G-man doing their thing- Erixon will fit in nicely. If MDZ gets his act together, the defense just got a lot better offensively.
