No Koivu tomorrow!

According to CKAC, Saku Koivu wont play against the Leafs...No change on the lineup!

They said on rds last night that he was mad coz he wasn't in the lineup against the pens. I'm a little surprised and disapointed, he would've been a great addition against a hungry leaf team.

Begin said during the intermission that he prefered playing on the wing. Why don't we scratch Sundstrom and get a last line of Begin-Higgins-Ward?

Begin said being a center restricted the way he played, so wouldn't it make sense to put him on the wing where he can "freely" be a pest and hit?

Also, I think Begin-Higgins-Ward would be a better energy line than Sundstrom-Begin-Ward.

I agree. Hopefully we can have a Begin/Langdon - Kilger - Ward 4th line soon.

I think that Koivu will play with Ryder. I remember that in preseason Koivu praised Michael and said that he would have no problem playing with him in the season. According to that, it is my line up:

Bulis (38) - Koivu (11) - Ryder (73)
Hossa (81) - Ribeiro (71) - Zednik (20)
Ward (17) - Perreault (94) - Audette (82)
Begin (22) - Higgins (88) - Sundstrom (37)

Markov (79) - Rivet (52)
Hainsey (65) - Brisebois (43)
Souray (44) - Quintal (5)

Starter: Théodore (60)

I like that line. It won't hurt you defensively, you have one pest, one physical player and a talented two-way pivot. Based on the way Sunny has been playing so far this season, this line would actually be an improvement to the calibre of the team, and I always believe that you should play the best players available.

Begin is going to have to watch those penalties though, I don't want the PK units on any longer than they have to be...it wears them down and typically it is also your "checking" line who get lots of ice time against the #1 line already.

Rds says he hasnt been cleared by the medical staff. He could play against Detroit.

As much as I would like to see Koivu in our lineup.....ironically, the boys are doing great without him (3 game winning streak and counting). Hope the magic continues

I prefer seeing him rest while he can instead of coming back and injure again. Anyway the team is doing great without him : 13-2 in the last 3 games

There, you see? Koivu doesn't have a word to say about who he plays with. He doesn't have a problem playing with him, eh? Since when does he have to dictate his choices?

Under Bob Gainey, Mike Modano was "broken" out of his "I-am-the-star-look-at-me" mode. He began to play like a real team player. If Koivu wants to impose his own choices, Bobby needs to talk to our super captain.
