With most teams trying to unload draft picks in the first round it speaks volumes about the players available in the top end (#1-#10).There is no guarantees with these picks, teams could end up with a lemon for their efforts.Better to try and get a trade for established players and let someone else draft try picking the player that will dominate the NHL in a few short years.

I think it has more to do with teams feeling the need to start putting up Ws more than anything.

We hear the same thing every year. It only makes sense for top 5 teams to see what they can get by trade, at the end of the day nothing big gets done because the teams at the bottom need top young players more than the other 20-25 teams not picking early.
Or it could indicate that these teams, since they've been drafting high in recent years, are stacked with talented youth with potential and are in dire need of some veteran presence. Were I the GM of Edmonton, NYI or Columbus, I'd dangle my pick as well.
Shouldn't it be 17th, 78th, 113th, 138th, 168th and 198th? There's an extra pick in the 2nd round which should bump everyone after 49th overall down one.

I am interested if anyone knows much about Ty Rattie. I realize he isn't big and he was on a stacked line. But it seems like he has some great hands and great hockey sense. Does anyone have any more input?
What do you guys think of Anton Zlobin? 93 born/6ft/187lb with the Cataractes.
23g/45p in his full rookie season in NA.
Saw him play 3 times this season, and well, I had to look at him to even notice he was on the ice, has pretty good hands and a good shot, other then that, a big meh... I wonder if he will get drafted at all...

Red Line touts him as the guy who makes Bartschi look good.
Did anyone have any viewings of Marek Tvrdon? Played on a line with Cunningham and hab's Gallagher for 12 games before getting injured for the rest of the season. Any word on what's up with him?

No way. He's gotta be picked up early in the 3rd round.
