I would rather keep Girardi than move up the six spots.
I'm not sure why posters are looking to dump Girardi, he is 1/2 of our top D.
I've been thinking the same thing, especially given how well he performed against the Caps in our playoff series.. it's a little silly. Players like Girardi don't grow on trees, we're lucky to have him.
When you're trade proposal is getting so intertwined you're confusing yourself, it's not a good idea. Nor is it a good idea when you're dealing with picks 2 and 3 years ahead.
Dan Girardi is a very valuable asset. Trading him to move up a few spots in a wek draft doesn't make too much sense to me, especially considering that in each of the past what 3 drafts there were fallers that nobody really saw coming.
I think that's a really bad idea and the team should stay put at 15. There should still be a pretty good prospect there at that point. Maybe a better one that many of us think!
I think the OP was stating we would make that trade and end up with the 9th and 15th overall.
As much as i would like to have two picks in the top 15, it really is piss poor asset managment giving up Girardi for a pick. If we are trading Girardi it better be in a bigger package for a top line forward

Trading Girardi for a pick would be very Milbury of Sather.
Man, I don't understand the Girardi thing. Why do so many people include him in trade proposals? I understand that we have an excellent crop of young defenseman, but who is going to step up and cover for the 25 minutes per night that Danny plays? And realize that Girardi, despite his penchant for hits and blocking shots, has only missed two games in four years. That's almost unheard of for any defenseman in this age, let alone one that plays like Girardi.
Girardi has more value to us than what he would fetch in a trade. For us, playing with Marc Staal, they're a shutdown tandem that we can throw out there against anyone in the league. AND he's on a reasonable contract! Quit trying to move him. Maybe in another two years when the younger defenseman are pushing for a spot on the top pair, but not now. As I said, he's more valuable to us than he is on the trade market.
Not interested in trading Girardi unless it's for a top 3 pick...not the 9th overall selection who will have all kinds of question marks. If we're going to include Dan in a deal it will be for a proven player who will help us now...not for a guy who may or may not help us 2 or 3 years down the road.
Some posts about trading 15th for 9th abound.
Would prefer to deal keeping the 15th, then with option to deal both 9th + 15th to move up.
Girardi has more established value, which NYR can replace from deep D base we must exploit.
Girardi,
NYR 2nds in 2012 AND in 2013
and 2 freebies Bourque, rights to Gilroy
for 9th overall (Boston from Toronto)
and Bruins first rounder in 2012 or 2013, Boston's choice...
Feedback....
WHy in gods name do you include Girardi in a deal to move up a few spots and claim another 1st. That's horrific. An established 1st line player for 6 spots and a 1st? Oh and you're throwing in 2 2nds AND a prospect.
I agree with everyone that says we shouldn't trade girardi. We aren't in a position where we can move him...but for the sake of argument lets say we are willing to move girardi...
i think boston would laugh at that offer. for girardi, 2 2nds and other crap you are getting the 9th overall pick AND a 1st rounder in 2012 which is said to be a very good draft?? That offer is probably not enough for the #9 pick by itself.
5 of the 6 bruins blueliners that just won the cup are still under contract next year. they don't need help on defense. why would they overpay for girardi like that?
this type of deal has a better chance of working with columbus at #8 cause they are desparate for blueliners and aren't run as well as boston lol.
Also i'll add that if we did pickup the 8th or 9th pick, I don't think i'd trade that pick and the 15th to move up. I think i'd stay there and hope to land 2 of the guys we are hoping to get at 15.
