Morozov expects to be traded

leksey Morozov's career with the Penguins appears to be over, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Morozov's agent, Jay Grossman, said he expects the Penguins to try to trade his client, who is a restricted free agent and has a contract in place to work in the Russian Super League.

"Right now, it does not look like we will sign in [Pittsburgh]," Grossman told the paper. "Looks like they will try to move him."

If the Penguins are unable to trade him, Morozov will spend the 2005-06 season in Russia, but his preference is to play in the NHL.

"He wants to play in the NHL this year," Grossman said. "And we are hopeful something can be done to satisfy the club and [Morozov]."

Could be a decent LWer.. I wouldn't give up too much on him, and he came off a good season.. not many players on our roster did that.

We need a left winger really, really, bad. I would love to have this guy. Not really sure what Pittsburgh would want in return though.

Here's one guy that I actually wouldn't picking up at all.

I'd love to see what he could do on the LW of Sundin with maybe O'Neill or someone on the right side. He's got some great skills, and at points in his career has put up some pretty impressive numbers. He could really breakout.

Don't know how realistic this is. Don't know how much money he's looking for or anything, but from a trade standpoint it's much easier for me to see us putting something together for Morozov than those questionable Zetterberg rumours. Definitely worth looking into.

If Pittsburgh didn't want much in return he'd be worth a try, he's quite talented... IMHO a solid top 6 talent.
Just extremely inconsistent and tends to go through long periods wherein he does little but coast and collect a paycheck, not very strong mentally either and his defensive game is.... very poor.

I wouldn't give up too much for him, but it'd be worth seeing what Pittsburgh wanted in return.

They need Defencemen. I wonder if they'd take Pilar or Berg going the other way.

It would be my wet dream come true if we could get Morozov by trading away Aki f**king Berg.

Like squeezing blood from a stone.

Or turning lead into gold.

This guy will never live up to expectations. A pure enigma.

How about a second or third round pick? That seems to be the going rate for personnel dumps these days.

Agreed.

Morozov would be an excellent acquisition and shouldn't be overly costly.

i'm not too happy about the morozov situation right now. he's coming off a dominant season in the RSL with 46 pts in 58 games, only 8 pts off the scoring champion. i doubt it would take much to get him either, because CP either trades him or loses him for nothing. maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick. klee would be nice, however.

Too inconsistent and one-dimensional, and given his lackluster work ethic I'm dubious he'll ever even come remotely close to living up to expectations... I'd only offer a 4th or so.

If we're looking at unsigned players off Pittsburg's roster, what about Ryan Malone?

...Nah, somehow I doubt they'd trade Malone. Still, I wonder how he's going to like going from an impressive rookie season to out of the top 6 in 2 years.

I'm pretty sure their dead set on keeping Malone, unless someone drastically overpaid.

I wouldn't mind offering Morozov a chance, but I would be hesistate to trade Pilar straight up for him, as I really like Pilar as a player. On the other hand, I don't think Pittsburg would be interested in taking Berg's salary. I'm ok to trade some of our defense prospects (i.e. Hedin ,Bell, Harrison, Turon etc.) for Morozov.

Hmm, Maybe the Wings will go Russian for Russian, Morozov(add one more player) for Datsyuk. I could live with that.
