Canucks lost the series in game 3. They had full confidence and taking a 3-0 lead is pretty much a sure thing. That was the game. The decided to take a rest, absolutely didn't show up from the 1st second to the last. It was over.
You could make the case that Seguin turned the TB series around. And he did.
He had 1 great game. Made it 1-1. Still time to turn it around again. He was invisible since then. And even if he had, we are not talking about 5 years of consecutive tanking. But tanking or not, the idea is that they were able to do their thing with not a whole lot of top 5 picks. Even if you think they did with Seguin, they had 1 top 5 in Kessel. And top 2 in Seguin is a result of that top 5. And we had our own top 5 in Price. The idea is that it's possible that our own top 5 will also play a significant role in winning a cup. We'll see. But as of now, we can't say theirs was in play.
Nobody can take this cup away from Boston, but deep down, everyone including their fans knows that a big reason they are where they are is because the NHL was on their side all year long. Their fans may not admit it, but deep down, they know.
