Jarome Iginla - visit to Afghanistan

Didn't see this mentioned anywhere. Might be nice to have some good news, mixed in.

"It was an honor and a privilege to be asked by the Prime Minister to be part of this trip to come and meet and spend time with our troops," Iginla told calgaryflames.com.
Nice article from Gord Miller talking about the experience.

As for Jarome Iginla, it speaks volumes that he is the first active NHL player a travel to Afghanistan, which meant the world to the men and women stationed there. And he even offered to have my pants dry-cleaned and shipped to me.

Continues to show why he is pure class. What a great gesture towards the troops. Proud to say he is a Calgary Flame.

Didn't think my respect for Iginla could go any higher. what a guy, he's really greatful for how lucky of a person he is, and he shows it through acts like this. Great write up by Miller.

Read this in the paper last week, not surprising one bit. Just Iginla being Iginla. Good on him.

Cool move.... and it says a lot that he was the first player who went to Afghanistan and was obviously at or near the top of the PM's list. Great guy.

It just baffles me as to how people want to trade him year after year.

Iggy is all class.

Guys, guys...stop piling unreasonable expectations on him. He's not Superman.

But it is quite disappointing how there are such things like Third-World countries.
