All in all, I wouldn't even want to imagine what would happened if our Habs should have lost a Stanley Cup Final game 7..
That would have been great TV, but an absolutely brutal riot. Lots of money. Lots lots lots. Possibly a million people downtown Montreal watching the game in clubs, parks...
I've got to imagine the Montreal police would make a call for serious backup. And imagine if there was something a bit more than a hockey game at stake, say somebody on the other team had a off-color comment on the Quebecois people.
The police in Vancouver right now is not doing anything to stop like 20 guys that are going from store to store to steal crap.
honestly im all for a protest/riot, as long as there is a purpose..clearly none here, they better use the money from tickets they give out too this idiots to pay for anything, if i was from BC i wouldnt want my taxes going towards an idiots mess.....just hope nobody is seriously hurt .....side note- cops wearing hockey gloves is slightly comical given the situation

It is so funny people riot for a hockey team but when the government does something stupid, like when government was prorogued, a majority of people simply do not care. Where do our priorities lie?

agreed. i wont turn this into a political rant but people simply could care less about things the government does that affect their everyday lives, however you cant blame true fans for this, this is just drunken mob mentality + no bystander intervention.
I can't believe they didn't have re-enforcements ready. Had we lost the Gold medal, this would've happened. Even if they didn't think the Nucks wouldn't lose, after the 2nd period, start sending out your popo troops. Idiots.
I saw on Twitter a Bruins fan was thrown off an overpass and killed, wtf is wrong with people.
Edit: Appartently wasn't killed but still wtf
I'm pretty sure that is wrong. First, I don't think he was a Bruins fan and second he fell and wasn't pushed. We'll get the details soon.
I did see some disgusting footage of a Bruins fan in a Lucic jersey trying to pick a fight. He went at one guy, then someone else knocked him out cold. When he was on the ground someone draped a Canucks jersey over him. Horrible sight to see.
WTF is wrong with people!?
I've NEVER understood why you wanna destroy your own city?
And, they, their parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours are the one picking up the bill when everything is done. Boston Bruins or the NHL certainly won't.
Effin idiots, at times like these I am all for police brutality.
Sad, sad, sad and so unnecessary...
My dad just got home from the downtown. His friend got jumped when he was trying to stop some kids from burning down the Bay. End up beating the guy up and make him run off, but he has a black eye. Good think my dad looks like Arnold, cause it could of been a lot worse for a 50 year old man.
My dad said that the cops had made a big circle around a few blocks to keep people in, but anything goes inside.

Can't people start realizing that this has nothing to do with the fans and everything to do with the fact that there is a huge gathering of people?
There's just organized groups taking advantage of these things because they know that in huge crowds they can get away with it. The reason you will never see that in the US after a playoff win/loss is that there's never these kinds of huge outside gathering for hockey games...
It's kinda hard for the police to control what happens when you have hundred of thousands of people all gathered in the middle of the city.
Calm down. It's not like they went out on a murder spree to **** everything in sight. Just arrest them.
Honestly I have no respect for people like them who will destroy other people's property like they are doing. Like when you see them destroying someone's car. Someone had to work and pay for that yet these punks will just destroy and burn it? I won't lie when I watched the video of them doing this I hoped the car would fall on them when they were trying to tip it.
