Wilpon is in a mess, and spending big on FA's doesnt seem like something we will be doing in the future.
he was in oakland before billy beane when oakland spent $$ and he mentored beane, so if anything beane is a alderson guy...regardless though you can spend less and still pay reyes. like steve phillips said when they were on espn recently, they aren't going to go cheap at every single position and have a $30 mil payroll. even if they lower the payroll to $100 mil that gives them plenty of $$ to give both wright and reyes $15 mil/year and then you go cheaper in other areas...

you get the payroll down by not giving beltran $19 mil, not giving bay $16 mil, etc. NOT by letting your franchise player go.

Didn't know that about Alderson/Beane, my fault I was wrong. And like Emma, I understand what you are saying. But I firmly believe Reyes will be traded.

And he seems to really love it in NY and wants to win here, but we dont know what kind of offers he will be getting from other teams if he gets to free agency. Also who knows how he exactly feels after hearing what Wilpon had to say a few weeks back.

Do it for Dickey!

Aww they're not even gonna let Dickey get the decision, see what I mean?

RA Dickey is terrible. Who were the geniuses who thought he was this team's best starter?

The Mets are making a huge mistake if they trade/don't re-sign Reyes. This is the most dominant year I've ever seen from a Met hitter

Uh oh 2k2, the name is sticking already

Reyes loves NY, and NY loves Reyes. The Mets haven't had a true franchise player walk away in years...Hampton is the last one that I can think of. If Reyes leaves, the Mets have underachieving Wright...an oft-injured Santana..and what?

David Wright in 07? 30-30 season, 8.9 WAR player. In last 10 years only 3Bs to have higher WAR than 07 Wright are A-Rod in 05 and 07, Beltre in his career year in 04 (48 HR season that he hasnt come close to repeating) and Scott Rolen in 04 (his 2nd year with Cards and his last productive season). IMO Wright takes the cake.

And nothing. I am not saying I want Reyes gone or we will be good without him, but thats just how I see it. And yes we know Reyes loves NY, and NY loves Reyes. But does he Love Wilpon? You know, our team owner who put our whole team on blast. I am sure all the players loved to hear that.

I disagree, but to each his own. Reyes leads the Majors in AVG, triples, hits, 2nd in doubles (since Beltran passed him tonight), 3rd in steals. Leads the NL in runs.

It's truly scary how amazing Reyes has been. Is he likely to hit .348 all year? No..but right now it's hard to argue that 07 Wright was as good when he only finished 4th for MVP. Right now Reyes is running away with NL MVP in my opinion. Only one who's close is Matt Kemp.

Wasn't saying that you were. My fault. I was in agreement with you.

I really hope Wilpon's ridiculous comments don't scare players away from Queens. I haven't heard much from him yet, therefore I already like this Einhorn guy better than the Wilpons

Thats crazy. 69th team game of the season which is a new Mets record previously held by Lance Johnson (72 team games).

Wow.

What a ****ing joke.

****ing travesty.

There goes my night. What a ****ing joke. **** K-Rod. Sit him on the ****ing bench and don't let him get CLOSE to his stupid vesting option. What a useless ****ing scrub.

By the way, that's the same string of profanity that came out of my mouth after the balk. Maybe even a little more tame.

He's terrible. Hated the signing from day one. Minaya should've known better than giving 17 million a season to a 26 year old with a rapid decline in velocity, history of postseason failure (although with the Mets that's unimportant), and someone who blows 5-7 saves a year. Plus he came off a 62 save season--obviously being overworked. Someone was going to be stupid and overpay. Of course it's the Mets
