What complications?

The injury that he came back from?

HIGHLY doubt that that is a road block.

Mutual seperation.

Rangers want to move in another direction, Drury is not the type of person to hold a franchise up.

After the buyout, and what he signs for nest year he will still make his 5+ million.

Drury is in a no lose situation.

Complications? I see none.

Do we really think Jagr can play at his Olympic level for a full season (especially a year and a half later)? I think you're looking at Markus Naslund's last year, potentially minus a bit. If we were on the verge of a Cup, sure - you sign him to a one year deal, put him on the 2nd line, and he shows flashes of his old self every 3-5 games during the regular season and hopefully steps it up for the PO run. For this team in this year I don't think it makes sense.

.

As for Jagr?

1 year at 3.5 million.

But, it means we have to buyout Wolski.

Would ask him to play 3rd line RW to Stepan at Center and Prust at LW.

As long as it does not prevent the Rangers from signing Richards, Jagr has to be looked at seriously.

My only problem is where does everyone play? Callahan on the 3rd? That's not enough minutes for him. I agree with Choosen, if Gaborik wasn't here I'd be all for it. But this team needs more balance. We still need a #1 center and a puck mover/pp qb on D. You can't throw all of your money at the right side.

I wouldn't.

I think Gaborik is going to rebound. He younger, faster and I think he's a little hungrier than Jagr is at this stage of the game. A rested Gaborik with a guy that can feed him I will take anyday over a guy who is what 3 years removed from the NHL and in the twilight of his career?

And...I am not totally against the idea of Jagr. Just not into the idea of Jagr as this teams first line Right Wing. Hell I am not even convinced that he's going to beat out Ryan Callahan for the 2nd line.

Keep him under 3 mil and I would be happy. However...I don't think Jagr is looking to take less to come back. Someone will give him at least 4 or 4.5 I would think.

I think he could still be quite effective. Jagr's assets in the last few years were his strength (he is still strong), his stick handling & puck possession (he may lose that a bit), his playmaking & passing (that will never go away), and his shot (which shouldn't disappear either).
If he plays with the right line mates, I still think he may be good. The only issue is he may get gassed more easily and he won't be as fast or agile. His offensive awareness will not go away.

It'd be really cool to see Jags as a Ranger one last time.

But its only a one in a hundred shot of it actually happening.

Rangers have big concerns to fill over the summer with Richards, and it seems unlikely that

A. Jagr would fit in this high tempo system at his age
B. Jagr would choose us to play with at a discount, over a potential stanley cup team like Detroit or Pittsburgh

If he did come back, would you make him captain?

I'd keep Prust with Boyle. If anything, if Prospal is resigned or Hagelin/Grachev are ready, I'd put them on that line. Stepan-Jagr would be a must because as of now Stepan is our only legitimate playmaker. If Richards is signed, he'll be our number one, but he'd most likely lay top line. Leaving Stepan to play with Jagr, if signed.

I'd personally put Jagr with Dubinsky & Anisimov. I think Anisimov could learn a lot about how to play with his size from Jagr.

Callahan-Richards-Gaborik (Cally I'm pretty sure has played his offwing)
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Jagr
Zucc/Feds/UFA/Avery-Stepan-Wolski
Prust-Boyle-Avery/Feds

But Jagr can benefit from more a playmaker. Anisimov really isn't that much of a playmaker. Dubinsky-Stepan-Jagr wouldt be a good line, but I would separate Callahan and Dubinsky. I'd personally keep the Pack line together, and I don't suggest moving Callahan away from the right wing.

But old Jagr benefited more from puck possession types and corner grinders, with some skill. Thats why we had Brad Isbister on his wing for such a long time.

Dubi-AA-Jagr actually has some potential.

I loved loved loved JJ when he was in New York but the time has passed. Let him go to EDM, he said they were amazing when trying to lure him over before he went to the KHL. He also said he never playing for a Canada team was something he never experienced and always wanted to.

I say Leafs or Oil if he does come back at all.

Such a long time?! You mean the 19 games he played for us in 2007?!! He had 1 goal and 4 assists...well if you add the 4 playoff games he played, that's increases his tenure with us all that much more

A quarter of a season is a long time to have a player like Brad Isbister on your top line.

Unless he's become a LW or C, I'm not interested.

Jagr looked great at the World Championships this spring too.

He's got something left in that tank there's no denying it.

Soft spot in my heart for Jagr always.

With jagr's skill set i'd put him on thr 1st line with richards and bump gabby and cally down a line.

Avery-Richards-Jagr
Dubi-Stepan-Gaborik
Hagelin-Anisimov-Cally
Prust-Boyle-Fedentenko

Which is fine by me if he plays with Dubi and Cally, but i'm not so sure Torts would put up with that.

A good point.

Anyone who watched Jagr demolish the USA team at the world championships knows that he can still bring it. He'd instantly improve our power play and depth at forward.

Question becomes, how would he handle an 82 game schedule? And why wouldn't he pick Detroit, who has money to spend and a crew of winning vets, or Pittsburgh over the Rangers? New York City must be a nice draw for him to even be considering it.
