The impression that Ive gotten from reading the articles is thus;

Jagr's first choice is Detroit. So for him to somehow end up with us he'd have to first be passed on by an excellent franchise.

Management may very well have no interest in bringing back Jagr, regardless of whether he has interest in us.

All in all, its not a likely scenario.

I wouldn't be okay with signing Jagr for any more than $2M. And even that I still feel iffy about. Sure, he's still got this skill and the talent. Your real concerns should be, does he still have the stamina? He's 39 and 3-years removed from an 82-game season. 8th in the KHL in scoring, on the top-scoring team. 2 goals in 14 playoff games, 9 points. I think he's too old to grind it out for 82+ games in the NHL anymore.

Soft spot in my heart for Jagr always.
IIHF selected him as top3 forward on last WCH, ahead of Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Spezza, Gaborik and others. He still has some gas left, 15min/per game without any problem.

Ken Holland said Detroit has some interest in Jagr...he said they have some questions and vice versa.

He said he's not sure how much interest Detroit has, but said Jagr should be making a decision about returning to the NHL by July 1st.

I realize the chances of us signing him are very slim, but this has me very excited. I'd be ecstatic to see him don a Rangers jersey once again.

Yeah, me too. Kind of sorry I didn't buy an authentic Jagr "C" jersey.

Imagine, if we added Jagr, Richards, and either Leino/Laich or a vet "D" to this roster. Makes you start thinking crazy things.

Would love nothing more to see Jagr return, but I see us as a 3rd option behind DET and PIT.

no way Washington is involved. I don't buy that.

I would hate to see him play for anyone other than us or or DET. He'd probably be a better fit for the Wings and have more of a shot at winning.

I'd love to see him play in DET.

I enjoy the Wings and have alot of respect for that franchise. I could openly root for him to tear it up and not have it hurt the Rangers.

Would shut up all the Pens fans who swear he was gunna play there for 300K.

Leaving Stepan to play with Jagr, if signed.
Boyle is overrated.

Having Prust and his drive to the net type of style would open the ice up for guys like Step and Jagr to be more creative with the puck.

I'm of the camp that loved the chemistry that Dubi--AA--Cally showed before being broken up by Torts to spread the wealth.

Not the most ideal solution but...

Fedotenko - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Prust - Stepan - Jagr
Hagelin - Boyle - Weise

I think you have three legit lines that can score and play well defensively.

Why does he belong there? He was on pace for 30 goals and 60+ points last season. He's one of our best forecheckers, best backcheckers, and is quite responsible defensively... He's a forward you want to have somewhere in your top 6 logging ample playing time.

I'd say JJ has a decent chance of at least matching any out put Gabby can muster.

If he is coming back to the NHL, for the right price I'd love to see him a Ranger again.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Gaborik put up similar numbers in the NHL this year to Jagr in the KHL, in an injury plagued season.

Not to mention Gaborik is one season removed from 40 goals. Jagr hasnt come close to that in 6 years.

I wouldn't mind Jagr back but some people's views of the player they think he is, are just skewed.

6 years?

In 2006 he had 54 goals and 123 Pts. That was 5 years ago.

The following season he had 30 goals and 96 Pts with a reconstructed shoulder.

That was in 2006-07. 4 years ago.

Just 3 years ago he still led the team in scoring and was a complete beast in the playoffs being the leading scorer (15 Pts in 10 games) through 2 rounds, he even outplayed Malkin and Crosby in their series against each other.

Did he recently replace his shoulder with titanium alloy? How about his legs as well?

Because as long as those haven't magically hit the fountain of youth, Jagr isn't going to even sniff 30 goals in the NHL again, let alone 40.

20-30-50 is about the very best case scenario a tea could hope from Jagr next year. He is a gigantic question mark. Not as big as Prospal, but likely more expensive.

I'd offer him $15 million but not to play on the team: Let him be our shooting coach.
