Kings 2010 6th round pick Kevin Gravel along with 1st round pick Derek Forbort received invites to the 2011 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp.

Here is the rest of the roster:

It's going to be tough sledding for Gravel to try and crack the roster but it's been said that he's a favorite inside USA Hockey circles. Should be interesting to see him compete and see how he stacks up. The battle for the rugged, defensive d-man spot(s) should be intense between the following: Oleksiak, Johns, Levi, Tinordi, and Gravel plus whomever else emerges in the next 6 months.

Yeah. I really don't expect him to make it unless he has a strong camp and 4 or 5 guys end up in the NHL or injured.

Amazing how talented our 5th/6th round guys are. Kozun/Gravel/Kitsyn are probably as talented as any other franchise's 2nd and 3rd rounders over the past 2 years.

Statistically, only about 1/6 of 2nd rounders even make the NHL and less for 3rd rounders. Most 5th/6th rd draft picks aren't even signed.

I still stand by my original statement that our 5th/6th rounders are as talented with as much potential as other teams 2/3rd rounders. Kozun is already signed and playing in the AHL, and I would be disappointed if Kitsyn wasn't at least given a shot at the AHL level.

Remember Bryan Cameron, the prospect who DL let walk last off-season?

He played 60 games this year with Abbotsford of the AHL, posting six goals, nine assists, and a -15 rating

I remember some of us (including me) were pretty upset that DL let him walk, especially after posting some solid numbers in the OHL. How's Geordie Wudrick doing? That's another guy Lombardi let walk and I was pretty upset with

Sorry

In 71 games last year Wudrick had something like 42 goals and 15 assists (or something close to that) and a +5 rating. Developing nicely but who knows where he is going to flesh out. He is a risky bet

Toffoli was the only Kings prospect that was chosen for the Canadian WJ selection camp. I was kinda surprised that Jordan Weal wasn't invited.

When will the ticker at the top be updated? And why is Bernier & Martinez still considered prospects?

FYI: since Chris Gibson was born in December 1992, he will be eligible to play in the AHL full time in 2012-13. The upcoming WJC will also be last time that Gibson will be eligible for the tournament.

Also, found something interesting with regards to ELC slides while reading the qualifying offers thread and then re-reading that part of the CBA. Posters were wondering about Michal Repik and why there hadn't been a qualifying offer. Repik was drafted out of the CHL in 2007, and, similarly to Gibson, had a December 1988 birthdate. He signed his ELC as an 18 year old in 2007 and then played juniors in 2007-08. He then played 5 games in the NHL and 75 games in the AHL in 2008-09, 19 NHL games and 60 AHL games in 2009-10, and 31 NHL games and 53 AHL games in 2010-11. Because he signed his ELC as an 18 year old in 2007, his ELC had ELC slides both in 2007-08 and 2008-09, and Repik is still on his ELC for 2011-12. However, if he had signed his ELC as a 19 year old in 2008, there would have been no ELC slide in 2008-09 and he would have been an RFA this offseason, needing a qualifying offer.

Unless a Player and Club expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all circumstances.
(ii) In the event that a Player signs his first SPC at age 18 and has had his SPC extended pursuant to Subsection (i), and such Player does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the second season under that SPC, then the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be extended for one (1) additional year. Unless a Player and Club expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional year in accordance with this Subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all circumstances.
. . .
9.2 Age of Players.
As used in this Article, "age," including "First SPC Signing Age," means a Player's age on September 15 of the calendar year in which he signs an SPC, regardless of his actual age on the date he signs such SPC.
This is because the bolded clause in CBA Article 9.1(d)(i) is not in Article 9.1(d)(ii). So what does this mean for Chris Gibson? It means that if he signs his ELC in 2011, there will be an ELC slides in 2011-12 and 2012-13 (unless of course, he manages to play 10+ NHL games in one of those seasons, which is highly unlikely) and he will on his ELC though the 2015-16 season. If he signs his ELC in 2012, there will be no ELC slide and he will be on his ELC through the 2014-15 season.

Also of note, the CHL import draft is on Wednesday.

After 6 seasons in juniors I'd like to think that'd be the least he can do...
