No, I think McCabe will try concentrating on his defensive coverage this year, after most hockey fans believe he's the worst defensive defenseman in the league.

McCabe has something to prove this year. It's not often that a 2nd team Allstar and 4th in Norris voting doesn't even get a sniff at the Olympic team and gets passed over for players like Dan Boyle.

I say 30-40 points.

With the PP that the Leafs will be able to put out there MCabe will be good for 50+ points.

McCabe will continue to score a large number of points for the Leafs. As stands, he is our best shooting defenseman on the PP and though not quite as good as Kaberle in the department of the break out pass he can pick that open man for a break away. I see him and Kaberle both in the 50 point range this comming season, though I hesitate to predict who will finish with more points.

I would expect between 15 and 20 goals and 25-35 assists from McCabe this season.

Anywhere between 40-55 points is what I am expecting..

Although Kaberle will score 50 points this year also.. Mark my word, it is his breakout year this year.

20-25pts, and adequate defensively with occasional spurts of boneheaded plays.

We have to wait until 06-07 to see wannabe Norris McCabe again, this season it's Depth McCabe's turn. They swap off.

I'am going to say McCabe will get 40-45 points this year.

I think that Kaberle is going to be the guy to watch though. Will his very good season in the Czech league carry over to this year? You got to think that his confidence is very high heading into this season.

McCabe will score maybe 15-20 goals with 10-15 assists, so anywhere in the 30-40 points range, now Kaberle on the other hand will have a monster season on defence.

LAst year's Swedish performance was depth McCabe. And considering wannabeNorris McCabe gets better with each passing season, while depth McCabe gets worse, I think wannabe might be erased this year.

From what I have noticed about McCabe, he has a bad season every other year. Since he spent that season in Europe (before he was sent home early I mean) my guess is that this will be his good year.

I'm pessimistic, so I'm working on the assumption that Depth McCabe always shows up in non-NHL action, so we're still on Depth McCabe's turn in the yearly cycle.
I'm also betting Wannabe Norris McCabe had a career year in contract year, and he'll revert back to his previous Wannabe Norris form rather then last NHL seasons form.

Fans of other teams think that we over-rate McCabe, well that is just not true by reading this thread and others. We under-rate him if anything, this a guy who was +22 with 54 pts during the last time there was NHL hockey, but I guess people just remmember his awful game 5 in Philly in 04 and all the good things that he has done just get forgotten.

...and how will this effect his output? I believe that the question being asked in this thread was will McCabe have another 50ish point year? Not will McCabe be traded because some people don't like him in Toronto.

The other thing I have noticed recently concerning McCabe is that Leaf fans who support Kaberle seem to hate McCabe simply because he outplayed and outproduced Kaberle last season. For some reason it appears that these fans feel that it is best that we only have one star defenseman and that Kaberle has to be that guy. Me? I love the fact that we have two defensemen who have the potential to win a Norris trophy and put up big numbers.

Expectations for McCabe?

That he and the rest of the players on the Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup. Is that so much to ask?

I think we will see great things from McCabe this season. The game will open up more and I think he will have some great numbers again. McCabe is a hell of alot better in his own end then 90% of the people who seem to mention his name give him credit for. He is our #1 defense man and that's that Kaberle is our number 2 but I think Quinn will keep them apart to try and balance out the defence a bit more. McCabe does have his moments but hell so does every other player in the league and I just don't know what some of you expect from him. Oh and for the Olympic comment McCabe is not known for his play on Olympic ice... Hell there are alot of good defenceman over the years who were good in the NHL but had a hard time adjusting there game the the larger ice surface. So give the guy a break he's shown he is a great defense man in this league and deserves to be our #1 defense man weather or not some of u like it.
