Correct RT @nyrs_rangers: @stevezipay The Rangers have a 2nd club elected deadline of July 6 if the players don't file by July 5

so there will be another potential opportunity to trigger the 2nd buyout window.
not saying its bad news but not sure what is good about it either...filing for arbitration protects against offer sheets, it guarantees a player will be signed one way or another, it opens a 2nd buyout window...and you can still negotiate a contract and avoid ever making it to the hearing
negatives are that arbitration would likely mean a shorter deal and hearings often result in players and team hating each other lol
You could read it as the Rangers anticipating that deals will get done with minimal acrimony.
Which is nice to hear.
They may have already come to an agreement with some of our RFAs and informed them of the Drury/Richards situation as well. Wouldn't surprise me if we didn't see Callahan/Dubi's contract until camp so we can fit in Richards.
The Rangers will get a 2nd chance to file for club elected salary arbitration on July 6. Teams have 2 chances.
Those players have until July 5 to file for arbitration. If they are not signed by then, chances are really good that all of the arb eligible players will file.

not gonna lie not sure what this means,lol.............For a guy like Gilroy when do they decide if they are offering a contract or letting him become a UFA?

It means nothing. The real deadline is July 6th. If unsigned, they will file then.
Regarding Gilroy -- he becomes a UFA if the Rangers don't offer a qualifying offer. The deadline for qualifying offers is "no later than 5:00pm on June 25th or the first Monday after the Entry Draft of the final year of a Player's SPC." CBA Article 10(a)(ii). In this case, that would be June 27th at 5:00pm.

i don't think i'd call it good or bad...
Neither the team nor the athlete want to go to arbitration. The arbitrator is a neutral party who probably knows nothing about hockey. The team will tell more 'negative' things to the arbitrator to make the salary as low as possible, and no player wants to hear the bad things about his game. The player always wants his salary higher, which could frustrate the team he is employed by.
I can't remember when a team has ever elected in June to take a player to arbitration in late July. Usually teams wait until July. Why doesn't Lou just sign Parise already? The Devils ownership group gave Kovalchuk $100M which was $20M more than LA offered but they're playing games with Parise.
No I don't think he becomes UFA. He has trade value beyond what some here give credit for. It would be terrible asset management to let him walk.
Then the Rangers would have to trade him before he needs to be qualified, and what team is going to qualify him at $2.1 million, or trade for him knowing that if they don't come to an agreement with him, he will become a UFA. He doesn't have value because of those two factors.

Filing for Arb by Lou is strictly a protection maneuver. It gives him time (until August, effectively, when arb. hearings get scheduled) to reach an agreement with Parise. During that period, he can't entertain an offer sheet from another club.
