Proposa Vancouver-Nashville

What would everyone think of this trade. If Vancouver offered Christian Erhoff or Keith Ballard, Cody Hodgson and our first round pick for this year in exchange for Shea Weber?
In exchange you guys get a puck moving defenseman to help boost your teams offense more and a solid upcoming prospect in Cody Hodgson and Vancouver would receive a number one defensemen they've been seeking.

First of all, Erhoff is going to be a free agent, so you would be trading his rights, not the player. Second, both Ballard and Erhoff are weak, and Ballard isn't that good. Third, your first rounder is going to be pretty close to where NJ's second is. Couple that with the fact that we are in win-now mode and the first has almost no value to us.

This one is a bit better than the one I saw on the Canucks forum (the rights to Erhoff, Ballard, and a 1st). Of course, that guy's reasoning was "We can low ball them cuz they cant pay him anyway"...

Can we sticky a thread for fans other teams warning them to not come in here offering their crap for Weber?

edit: just for fun, here's a counter-proposal. How about we give you Wilson and a third rounder for Kesler?

That is brutal. Note: just because Ballard is offered a million times doesn't mean anyone would take him for anything of value.

Actually Ballard could be of value on a team with a coach that treats him well.

Just not to us.

Columbus can't draft for crap in the second round and we badly need top-4 depth, so that could be considered something of value.

And the OP and his/her ilk still continue to remind me of the Rick Nash To Toronto days.

Ok.

Dumont, O'Brien, NJ's 2nd and Blake Geoffrion.

So we have a player that's "good to a coach that treats him well." A defenseman that's a free agent. A pick that's on par with a Vancouver 1st. and a Prospect.

Now give us Ryan Kesler.

the last thing we need is a puck moving D man. Your first round pick is worthless in this draft. Ballard is a piece of poo and Erhoff had a horrible playoff.

So in other words I think not.

These. Both of these.

I'd be more than willing to have someone with Ryan Kesler's skill set...but I think he would need to go through a cleansing on another team before I could take him here. Too much classlessness, gamesmanship, and diving. Sometimes the only way to tell him and Burrows apart is by the number on the sweater.

I don't want to let go of Weber anyways...but I would imagine we wouldn't consider trading him for defense anyways...at the very least a top 5 forward. I'm thinking someone in the range of Steven Stamkos.

Kesler as a Pred? Geez, if you thought CBJ-NSH games were sometimes rough before...

The only nuck I would want here would be that scab #14, and ONLY so Toots could have some fun before, during, and after practice.

The thought of Burrows in a Pred jersey....*shudders*...I'm going to have to go shower now. I feel unclean.

Legwand for Kesler straight up? ok, we'll throw in Dumont for good measure.

But on your original proposal: I haven't heard a single Vancouver fan say ANYTHING nice at all about Ballard. Why do we want this??? We are in love with Weber unless he ever becomes a Wing (I'll kill him) or probably a Canuck. Sorry.

Ballard is a good D-man, it's just VAN's coach has treated him like crap ever since Keith got there.

Why did Nashville take Weber to arbitration? Isn't he signed already? Where's he from, by the way?

Whatever. I bet he plays out his contract. Nashville would be wise to wring some value out of him while they can. Rentals are out of fashion, now is when you would get top value.

The OP didn't make a sound offer. Hodgson, isn't even being talked about. Ballard is the only signed defenceman with Offensive upside in Vancouver, right now. The pick is there, but Gillis values picks highly and wants to use them himself.

Vancouver will probably limp along with Salo for another year and sign Weber as a FA.

I think he'll stay put. I doubt he'd be interested in going somewhere that's saddled with a choker goalie for the next 10 years. Much better to stay and play with another superstar caliber defenseman, rather than... *snicker* Dan Hamhuis.
