Middling prospect you say? Grachev for Filatov? Too much? Not enough?

If thats the price tag for filatov then why not add this kid for a chance to see if he blossoms in NY. I don't think he's the ideal left winger we want but he's be far the second best game breaker we would have to Gaborik.

Dubinsky - XXXX - Gabby
Filatov - Stepan - Callahan

Thats not too bad of a top six...of course pending Filatov earns it through training camp...

Personally, I wouldn't do Grachev for Filatov. I'd prefer the 4th round pick or aged veteran. Hell, they can have both a 4th + Christensen if they'd like.

For Columbus to be looking for such a low return, even after Filatov's bad year, suggests that they must have completely soured on him. I'm sure his mid-season flight to the KHL didn't help matters or his value, but I think it's definitely a risk worth exploring.

EDIT: Something around Wolski for Filatov would also be a really good idea to free up cap space.

The fact that he's got only one year left on his contract is maybe the best part because if he doesn't work in NY we send him to the minors. He'll bolt for the KHL of course then we just cut ties but either we hit a homerun with him, or we pay like you said Wolski or some other type of package and he's a stop gap till Kreider hopefully next year..

From perusing the Filatov thread on the CBJs board, it seems as if the writer of that article is not very reliable as a source. Oh well.

Definitely a possibility, but at the same time, if a Rangers beat writer came out and said that the Rangers were looking to dump, say Grachev, for a "4th round pick, mid-tier prospect, or an aged veteran" wouldn't you refuse to believe it to?

Personally, I agree that he won't be traded for that paltry of a return, but I also think him being moved for pennies on the dollar is a distinct possibility.

True. I can recall all the "whoppers" that Brooksie reported over the years that never came to fruition but he does break stuff from time to time.

I might ask them if they would do Wolski and a 4th to see their reaction.

Wow. They want a package like Wolski and a 1st or a package surrounding MDZ. No thanks.

If you could get him for the right price, it wouldn't be a bad thing to add a guy with his skills to the prospect pool.

That being said, I seriously doubt his asking price is that low and we'd likely end up with a deal where we sent Sauer to Columbus, and after one season of Filatov, he jumped ship to Russia.

Filatov was a 1st round pick, right? And they honestly think his value increased since being drafted? If anything, his value has decreased, IMO.

Isles trading with the Kings?

I have heard rumors of Garth Snow throwing some serious prospects on the table if they could land Doughty on the Island and Drew was willing to come. The Isles have talked to Phoenix about the rights to Nabokov...
Somebody should really track this guy's house down and start a riot in front of it.

Also apparently, he has little doubt Stamkos is signed or traded to the Leafs.

if there was no speculation it'd make the offseason less entertaining.
