Yup agreed. Him, Drury, Wolski all come off and the lucky part is we won't have any lasting penalties either. We'll have even more money to play with next offseason.

Avery and Richards are friends, Richards has been seen at Avery's bar after it opened with Sean on at least one occasion from what I read.

I don't understand why we would buy out Wolski? I realize he hasn't been the player he's projected to have been but it isn't possible to trade him for anything? Not even like a 7th round pick or anything? I must be missing something here.

Yeah, I would think a team, after missing out on some UFA's, would take a chance on Wolski if the Rangers really wanted to move him.....I doubt they would.

unless you think the player you are replacing him with is better...lets say we can sign fedotenko for a deal where he salary plus avery's buyout hit is the same as avery's cap hit. given how well he played with boyle and prust thats an upgrade to me for the same cap $$.

I'm sure Sather has tried to trade him, but there isn't much of a market for him when he's making 4 mil with a 3.8 mil cap hit. He was traded last year at the deadline and did well to end the season with Phoenix, then Phoenix traded him half a year later. Now we are looking to trade him. He'll be going to his 4th team in less than 2 years.

Any team that wants to take a chance on him will let us by him out and then try to pick him up cheap.

I disagree. He was traded a few months ago for Rozsival (who is still a legit top 4 veteran D-man in this league). He still has value, imo. There are definitely teams that would move a meaningless prospect or late pick for him, at worst.

C'mon Wolski has only been here a short time and since the deadline how could he had a chance to shop him? I think Slats knows you have to give a career western conf player more than a few dozen games before making a final decision.

We're hearing the #NHL salary cap will be set between $63.5 and $64 million, but it's not set in stone just yet.

Bill Daly said in late May the range would be between $60.5-$63.5M. $64M was the number reported by a Detroit newspaper last week. The $64M number came from a league official. Canadian dollar. $3B in league revenue.

I'm told the upper limit of the 2011-12 NHL salary cap will be $64 million. The lower limit, or floor, will be $48 million.

So what are we looking at here if Drury hangs him up?

Holy ****, I didn't think the Cap would be that high. That's awesome, was expecting more between 62 and 63 to be honest.

Slats should have plenty of wiggle room this summer.

The Rangers have $47M committed(including Redden)with the $70.4M summer cap. Subtract $7.05M if Drury retires. If he doesn't retire, the Rangers can spend the $7.05M with Drury on LTIR(last day of camp). The Rangers will take a cap penalty for performance bonuses from 10-11. Prospal's $1.4M bonus. The Rangers had $1.08M in remaining space. $300,000 from Prospal. Stepan has a small bonus. The others(MDZ,McD and Zuccarello)are unknown. They split the season between the NHL and AHL.

Are you serious? He's had the entire time since the season ended. He had time to trade for Erixon and Lindberg. You don't think he made a few calls about Wolski? If he's going to buy Wolski out, you can be damn sure he called around first to see if anyone wanted to trade for him.

Whether you agree or disagree with trading/buying out Wolski is a different matter.

I think Slats gives WW a full season unless he thinks he can upgrade, and from the reports that WW is planning on attending Underhill's skating camp maybe something is clicking for WW. Slats MO has been to give projects some time, EC is still on this team.

has Drury filed his medical papers yet?

He should take the buy out, then take a front office position with the team for a few hundred grand a year to off-set any loss.

Not sure how to interpret this but blogger George Malik (from Kukla's Korner) is reporting Wolski buyout is a done deal.

We’re now amidst periods of time in which teams can file for salary arbitration (as the Devils and Predators did with Zach Parise and Shea Weber, respectively) and buy out players (as the Rangers did with Wojtek Wolski)

Unfortunately, a potential Wolski buyout makes us somewhat weaker on the wing, while a Drury buyout would have weakened us really nowhere.

If we bought out Wolski and managed to trade Drury to a cap floor team, we should have a fair chunk of change on our hands.

I don't think that's possible without him going on waivers first? Usually that's reported way in advance of the actual buyout itself

EC costs almost 3 mil less than Wolski. If Sather has plans for that money that doesn't include Wolski, he will get bought out.

Correct, we would hear he went on waivers before we would hear about the buyout.
