I am curious though, why are all the so called "easy" signings happening now? Guys like Pacioretty, Kostitsyn, Darce, Gill and rumored to be Weber?
Shouldn't PG be focusing on Markov and Wisniewski?
My guess is that his assistant, Larry Carrière, is handling the 'easy stuff'. Anyone have any insight on this sort of thing?

The length of time needed to negotiate a contract depends on who is in the power position in negotiations. Players who have few or no options sign early, the UFA's protract the negotiations as close to the deadlines as the negotiating parties can stomach.

Wasn't Meehan quoted by the QMI agency last week that a contract could happen with Markov this week? They've been working at it I am sure.

Renaud Lavoie reporting 1.5 and 1.75. So cap hit is just over 1.6.

I have no problem with that cap hit for Max Pac. He could be a fantastic bargain the next couple of years, especially if he gets back to his pre-concussion form. If he would have played the whole year with us, he could have scored 30 goals.

I expected 1.5M on a 1 year deal, and for that to jump up on his next contract as he puts up respectable offensive numbers. So the 2nd year has the potential to be a steal.

My personal estimates had him at 2 mil per for 3 years, and 1,7 per for 2 years, 1,5 for one year.
I wasn't far off.

Just reading his twitter account and from past training camps, i'm sure MaxPac will come to camp in GREAT shape. He seems like one of those players who are just so professional and serious about their off season training.

Around 20G-20A would be great value for his contract, anything over that would be just tremendous!
