Nathan Horton Symptom Free

Quote:
"Personally, I'm fine. I don't have any headaches," Horton said. "I'm just relaxing and I have no symptoms, and I've been that way for a few days now. I'll rest up and hopefully start training real hard again and come into [training camp] in great shape and be ready to go."

This is fantastic news. I was worried because it was called a severe concussion.

Yeah, I was worried as well. Never a good thing to hear "severe." But I've been kinda surprised with how happy and active he has looked since first seeing him in the crowd during the Vancouver series.

We have seen how tricky concussions and their symptoms can be in the past. I am happy that Horton seems to be OK, but I would definitely err on the side of caution if I were him. Lots of rest and gradually ramp up the workouts to see if any symptoms reappear.

Cue the "embellishment" posts from VAN and MTL fans...

Great news if his symptoms don't come back.

And equally great news that he doesn't need surgery on his shoulder.

What is there for these people to even troll if/when they do show up? Nathan Horton faked an injury so he didn't have to play in the rest of the SCF? The best winger on the Bruins faked an injury to get the worst defensman on the Canucks suspended? Pathetic.

Great to hear Hortons feeling well though. Hope he rests up this summer and comes into next season full force.

Don't try to make sense out of nonsense. You'll hurt yourself. Dr. Recchi says drink 2 beers and chiiiiiiiiiiiiiill.

I think they called it that because he lost conciousness for a relatively significant amount of time.

Awesome news but he should take his time to recovery. Don't try and rush things or it could just get worse

This mandatory concussion stuff is absurd.

it needs to be handled case to case.. I'd wager Nate was ready to go a few days later

he got his bell rung... that happens.. doesn't mean he needs to shelved for a mandatory 2 weeks+

Not every concussion is a Marc Savard or Patrice Bergeron concussion, and not every case should be handled the same.

If Nate was symptom free and ready to go in the SC Finals, a week after game 3, then let him go.

I am pretty sure I heard somewhere that he had a right shoulder issue which in combination with the concussion was the reason he was done for the year with no chance of coming back.

That's fair.. and I'm not trying to be insensitive, and I know I'm not alone on this one.

3 years ago ESPN was doing a Top 10 of Scott Stevens hits, praising the guys ability to destroy people coming across the middle... They guy made it an art form and most of his hits were legal. elbow down, targeting the shoulder/chest, etc.

The NHL is trying to ban open ice hits and it's just another step towards the wussification of the game.

Unless Dr Recchi clears the air, I don't believe the reports.

Pathetic is thinking Pacioretty was faking or the doctors were exaggerating the injury in the first place because every severe concussion has to be marc savard or patrice bergeron like.
