MONTREAL (CP) - Confidential files on the contract negotiations of NHL players Marc-Andre Fleury, Martin Havlat and Marian Gaborik were found on a downtown sidewalk this week, Le Journal de Montreal reported Friday.
The files, which included a signed copy of Fleury's contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, were stolen from the car of agent Alan Walsh last week, according to Le Journal. Vandals had broken into Walsh's car nearby and taken his briefcase.
A woman who asked that her name not be revealed found the rain-soaked documents while out on her morning walk on Thursday.
``I was walking on MacKay street when I saw papers flying around in the wind,'' she told the newspaper. ``I noticed one folder on the street and another on the sidewalk. They were thick files.
``I opened one of them and I was intrigued when I saw the Pittsburgh Penguins' logo.''
The files contained copies of offers, counter-offers and other documents from the negotiation of Fleury's contract, which was signed two weeks ago. A similar file was found on Gaborik, who has yet to sign with the Minnesota Wild.
A photographer searching the area later found more files, including one for Havlat, who signed with the Ottawa Senators last week.
