Nice! Can't wait to see him in action next year.

Can't believe B's fans are still sending him nasty messages on Twitter. Disgusting.

Glad we got him signed early. I was worried we wouldn't sign him for a while -- luckily, PG locked him up early. Good deal. Excited to have him back on the team. He's going to continue to improve.

Reading all this thread, it doesn't sound like he's afraid to be hit again one bit! Actually, sounds like he's preparing to be the one laying the beatings! 215 lbs, wow! Can't wait to see him freight train a couple of cup ring owners!

Great news.

Two random thoughts:

a) I like the emotional commitment he seems to have for the team. Especially since I see it as of somewhat unexpected for Paccioretty. I always thought he wasn't that happy when the habs drafted him and I had questions regarding his commitment back when he was playing in college. It seems I was dead wrong, as like Subban he seems to be willingly bleeding blue white and red.

b) What a draft year 2007 is turning to be for the habs! To get 3 regular (4 had we not traded McDonagh) out of one draft class is very very good.

An 82 point season would be an absolute dream. One can only hope.

He was 17 in his lat 20 if my memory is ok.

That's not PPG but close...

I really hope Pacioretty doesn't get hurt again next season. I will always be nervous when he has the puck especially when we play the dirty Bruins.

**** Chara. I still believe that his hit was completely intentional. ****ing dirty piece of **** psycho.

Love the contract, love reading that he's worked hard to gain some muscle weight. Looking forward to seeing him at camp this fall.

That's also just for 1/4th of a season. Anybody can be a 1pt/gp player if you take such a small sample size.
Let's start by seeing him crack the 20 goal mark, that would be a fair expectation for next year.

I was thinking 20-25 goals and 35-40 points would be a fair expectation for next season. If he pulls out a real breakout with 30 goals, 55-60 points then that's awesome, but I don't think its realistic.

it's a bit more than expected for a player who doesn't have a full nhl season under his belt.

"The 22-year-old Pacioretty said he was still frustrated that Chara wasnít suspended for the hit and he said he hoped the NHL will adopt a more consistent policy of policing head shots. He said he turned the TV off before the end of Game 7 in the Stanley Cup final because he didnít want to see Chara accept the trophy"

Arpon Basu's article

Love the way he's talking now:

Quote:
"Watching the playoffs I know how important it is to have a forward like me and I think going into my injury I had a little bit of a hot streak going and I found a way to get to the front of the net," Pacioretty said. "I think that really makes a difference, especially in the playoffs. You look at the guys that are successful, they're the ones who are battling in front of the net. I want to be that type of player for Montreal for many years."

"There's a good group of young core players right now, and that's the light at the end of the path," he said. "Guys like Davey (Desharnais) stepping up, Lars Eller as well, and with (Carey Price) and P.K. (Subban) already being established, almost NHL All-Stars, it's definitely looking good and it's going in the right direction. There are a couple of guys that have to get signed right now, but once they do I think I'll feel pretty confident that we can run for the Cup next year."
The guy sounds so confident as a core part of the team. Compare that to last year when he was talking about Hamilton, now he knows he's an important part of this teams success and that he needs to carry himself that way.

MaxPac has incredible attitude... no doubt.

He should stay away from Twitter, imo.

Listening to negative people just isn't healthy.

I'd actually encourage all players to sign up for Twitter. Would definitely help them both in developing thicker skin and in interactions with fans.

But Pacioretty seems like a confident guy. Certainly isn't afraid to say what's on his mind. I took his comments last year about preferring to stay in Hamilton as a poor mark on his character, but I was wrong. As fans we've gotten the opportunity to learn much more about him and his personality this season and he just seems like a very frank guy.

It's funny. I consider both Subban and Pacioretty to be confident and cocky guys, but their off ice demeanours are very different. Both are great interviews, but whereas Subban will go out of his way not to step on any toes, I don't think Max has that filter. I think in the future it'll be Pacioretty getting in trouble for his mouth rather than Subban.

It's only unhealthy if he takes unjustified criticism to heart. In reality, I doubt that Pacioretty cares about what WickedAwesomeBruinsFanSully69696969 on Twitter thinks.

And rightfully so!

Do you know how many Bruins fan harrassed me personally after the Chara-hit? I was furious about the non-suspension and they claimed I only cared because it was a MTL player that got hit, I reminded them I was also angry about the Bergeron, Savard and Booth incidents as well. Didn't hit home to them one bit. Then I hear them whining when Rome knocks out Horton, how it was a dirty hit and everything else. When the shoe is on the other foot, eh?

MaxPac I think is going to be a huge crowd favorite. Not only the obvious sympathy the fans will have for him, but his amazing attitude.
