When the flyers were really bad in the early nineties , two players got me through that era. Brindamour and Recchi my two fav flyers of all time.

Glad he's retired. He's a Flyer's killer. He, and Kovy.

The sooner he is gone the better.

Loved Rex both times here hated to see him go both times... although the return on his trade to the Habs was fantastic as it turned out... I argued that I wanted him back here when he was a more Cap friendly journeyman while many people at Hockeybuzz attacked me saying he was over the hill and no worth the trouble as many labeled him a cancer -- a total falsehood IMO -- and congratulate him now on a fantastic HHoF career.

Speaking of which; how is it determined in the HHoF as to what team a player is enshrined as and depicted as? Is it less a factor as other Halls? Do they get to select as some Halls allow or is it assigned as with MLB IIRC? What are he chances of his going into the Hall as a Flyer?... His best stats, beside Cup winning, was with the Flyers.

Rough totals stats:

GP.......G.......A........Pts

1652...577...956....1533 NHL

602....232...395.....627 Flyers

399....154...231.....385 Pens

346....120...202.....322 Habs

180.....42.....65.....107 Bruins

62.......13.....32......45 Bolts

53.......12.....28......40 Thrashers

20........4.......3........7 Canes

I believe he played in three All Star Games representing each the Flyers and he Habs and won Cups with the Pens, Canes and Boston... and was a leader with every team he played more than a cameo role in.

His feelings seemed to have been bruised when Clarke failed to offer him a contract as he awaited what he new CBA would look like -- offering serious contract to only Primeau who signed below market, against the NHLPA's wishes -- Recchi signed an over-priced contract with the Pens even though he expressed the wish to end his career with the Flyers and settle in Haddonfield IIRC... his wife was from Pittsburgh and he was happy to return there, chucking his plans about a Philly Area future.

I suppose he now settles down in Pittsburgh (?)... but where does his heart lie? Which team colors would he choose to enter the HHoF in if given the choice? At this point I'm not so sure as I once was about the Flyers.

It really sucks that Recchi spent parts of 10 years with the Flyers, yet he won 3 Cups with 3 other teams.

Great career, hof-bound for sure. I remember back in the early-mid 90's somewhere, as a young teen wanting us to get Recchi, Tocchet and Ricci back so we could have a cc-line.

You're right, it isn't surprising, considering a majority of the posters on here were probably freshman in high school during that debacle.

Recchi is one of the most impressive players i´ve ever seen.

41 and still in his prime

Our franchise is lacking this type of players after Lappy is injured.

Would like to see him in a flyers uniform as a assistant coach.

I was living in Richmond and not getting much in-depth Flyers news. What is it?
