The Mets aren't going anywhere this season at all. Nobody expected them to. As for winning 2 of 3.

2/3 x 5/5 = 10/15

10/15 --> 100/150

Winning 100 out of 150 games doesn't happen for any team. The Mets would be lucky if they won 75.

LOL, really? They'd be "lucky" to win three less games than they're currently on pace to? I'd say that the Mets have been very unlucky this year, and yet they're still hovering around .500. They haven't had a single start from their best pitcher, and their starting first and third basemen have missed half of the season so far...and they're still just two games under five hundred.

I myself didn't believe the Mets were going anywhere this year. I said that if things broke right for them, they'd have a shot at the Wild Card. Pretty much everything has gone wrong for them once again, and yet they're five games out. They're not the Astros, Padres or Royals, with little talent and a smaller payroll--they're a decent club with legitimate talent.

While there may be some Mets fans that currently overrate our ability to win games, I think you're seriously underrating what's there.

Also, Boston's offense is terrifying right now. Just ridiculous.

St. Lucie clinches first-half division title in FSL with walk-off win in 11th. Cesar Puello double scores Travis Ozga. Now they can promote.

After clinch, I expect Matt Harvey, Matt den Dekker and Nick Carr are Binghamton-bound. Darin Gorski soon enough too.

Gorski intrigues me. He's not a hard thrower, sitting high 80s, sometimes low 90s, but he has a good change and a decent curve. And he knows how to pitch. A guy in the Dillon Gee mold, small school, fairly typical of the arms that Minaya liked to draft. AA will be a real test for him, but if he responds well, he's another nice arm in the system.

It's fine, not uncommon for a guy to take that stance. Don't want it as a distraction.

I'm very encouraged that Harvey's making such progress so fast. Might see him in the bigs by July of 2012.

Datsyuk, while the Mets aren't a good team, it's still only June. Holding out for a chance at the Wild Card isn't unreasonable at this point.

not uncommon...but also not the best news for a team that is trying to decide if they want to pony up the $$ to sign him or deal him. i still hope he gets signed but if anything this increases the odds of losing him for nothing but comp picks

Well, they've opened up the line of communication with his agent, so both parties should have an (evolving) idea of what it's going to take to get a deal done. If Jose's agent tells them that he's going to want $150MM over 7 years, the Mets can start preparing for life after Jose.

Just odd that neither of the last two starters have their stuff at all.

Right now I would say so but we have over half a season to go so things could definitely change.

Nice to see the Mets play the A's. These Matsui at bats bring back fond memories.

I wish it was Granderson but right now Gonzalez is the media's (ESPNESN) choice. The Yanks are always given the shaft by the rest of the national sportswriters. Huge anti-Yankee bias out there.

True, but even I'd pick Gonzalez as of today in all honestly. Although I'm rooting for Granderson.

He'd be my pick with Bautista and Miguel Cabrera not far behind.

Quite possibly. He should be in AA in not too distant future.

2.37 is his current ERA but if you take way 1 really bad start he had (in May) his ERA is around 1.5. For a guy with control issues 2.83 BB/9 is extremely encouraging. Has gone at least 5 innings in last 7 starts.

So what do you guys do then? I said earlier and still hold true to it, that I believe Reyes will be traded. I love to see that the Mets offered him a contract, but at same time I don't blame Reyes for wanted to test FA.

So do you trade him for all that hes worth? Or risk him walking away for nothing? Tough spot. Curious what kind of offer Mets planned on giving him.

Well he wouldn't walk away for nothing. The Mets will offer him arbitration so at the very least if he leaves, they'll be getting a first rounder and a supplemental pick.

Yeah I knew theyd get a pick, but is that enough for what Reyes is worth? Hopefully management has a good idea of what his ideas are before trading deadline.

But at same time if he doesn't want to discuss an extension now, I am sure he wont sign with whatever team trades for him. So maybe that puts a damper on the return we would get for him. So I guess I change my tune, and realize best option for Mets is to not trade him and try our best to sign him this offseason.
