Was Snell brought in under Feaster, OK or Yzerman? I wonder if we will see a mass exodus of scouts now that Yzerman has had enough time to figure out who he wants to keep.

Bolt Prospects 2011 NHL Entry Draft Preview: Introduction and Goaltenders

http://boltprospects.com/content/bol...nd-goaltenders

Quote:
Today marks the first of a four part installment of positional previews here at BoltProspects, heading into the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Beyond the first 10 or so picks, expect the unexpected, as we could foresee any of about 35-40 players potentially being viable alternatives for the Lightning for selection at 27th overall. The following is our tentative schedule for our draft previews:

6/18/11: Introduction and Goaltenders
6/19/11: Defensemen
6/21/11: Centers
6/22/11: Wingers

6/24/11: 2011 NHL Entry Draft - Round 1
6/25/11: 2011 NHL Entry Draft - Round 2-7

Each story will include the draft capsules for the prospects at the position we feel might have a chance to be available when the Lightning pick and who may attract the team's attention.

Agreed, although its hard to miss on the num1 and num2 picks in Stamkos and Hedman.

Guess I was thinking more about about Quick, Helenius, Zador, Mihaliak, et al. Guys with expiring ELCs that won't be resigned.

tsn.ca's mock draft 21-30...some notable guys, Boone Jenner seems very yzerman-esque and of course rocco grimaldi draws comparison to st louis due to size and skill

Are we hiring additional scouts or are these replacing expired contracts as well?

I hope its additional. Get rid of some that maybe seem to be riding the coat tails sort of speak. But if they know what there doing, then get as many as you can. Will never hurt with the way the NHL is now.

Agreed, I mean from their 2 drafts we got Stamkos, Wright, Tik, Barberio, Hedman, Ashton, Panik, Hutchings and Janus.

I mean I would argue that the 2009 draft has potential to be our best draft ever:

Hedman, Ashton, Panik, Hutchings and Janus?? Of course assuming they all hit their potential (things not looking great for Hutchings so far)

I'm just surprised by the timing of it, didn't think they'd nab all these guys before the draft.

If they make it. I think Hedman has the highest ceiling (durr) followed by Panik. Panik really has top flight talent, he just needs to choose to use it all the time. Hutchings and Janus both have talent but are behind a bit because of injury now. Hutchings *can* be a great two way player and I think thats what the FO covets.

Indeed, Panik has A LOT of potential, he just only seems to use it when he's facing big competition like in the WC last year...

What about maybe dropping a few spots and picking up a third? Could maybe drop into the early 2nd and pick up another 2nd and a 3rd?

Bobby Mac says The Peg is going to announce the team's name before they pick today.
