I think that that was the inference... as in a play on words.

For example, when someone orders a "ham on swiss" sandwich they're not asking for a sandwich with ham on roger federer but are asking for ham on swiss cheese - I believe.

I love having all these Swiss players on our team.

Their national team doesn't have much high-end talent but then still manage to play extremely well at the international level.

Am I the only one who is still pissed that we let Streit go? Damn, that guy would look good on our line-up right now, and we wouldn't have had to go for stop-gaps in the last three seasons.

Streit leaving was a foregone conculsion, Carbo didn't trust him on defense and Gainey wasn't going to pay 3.5-4 mil for a bottom 6 forward.

I don't think the "stopgaps" the last few years have hurt us much...Markov is the guy we have missed a lot the last couple years.

Funny no one remembers Aebischer !
He became an ok goalie for the swiss league again after his poor years with ... you (sorry for that !)

i personally will always respect him because he was the first swiss who really started playing in NHL !!! yet i know he wasn't the best ... specially with you !

Thanks for all the welcoming messages ... and for your positive comments on swiss hockey !

if all diaz, berger and webber all contribute in some form or another to beat a team will TSN or other punny/pun happy stations/sites refer to the habs as "Swiss beatz" or something along those lines?

If we have too much Swiss players in our lineup well wont that give us an inordinately high number of tied games?

The Swiss did beat us in the Olympics a few years ago...

My wife is Swiss, so anything that can get her involved is a good thing!

I liked the way the Swiss played at the Olympics and the last World Juniors. Smart hockey. Low scoring games, tough to beat em. Seems like something right up Jacques Martin's alley.

What about Robert Mayer? Will he play another season in the Habs organization? Is his contract running out?

Were they satisified with his play?

Isn't Mayer Czech? He was born there at least. His stats left something to be desired, but he's got two more years on his entry level contract and 21 years old is a bit young to be tossing out our only goalie depth.

Mayer has one year left on his contract, I don't know what the plan is for him, currently the only goalies the Habs have under contract in the system is Price and Mayer.

I don't think they were too satisfied with his play, the coach didn't seem to have any confidence in him and rightly so as he was very inconsistent. I would be shocked if he has any sort of future with the Habs after his contract expires.

Mayer played for the Swiss at the U-20's.
