This thread sucks. What's the point?

Like we need an entire thread devoted to being negative. Just mention Jeff Carter anywhere else on this board.

The positive aspect of negativity is that it lowers our expectations. If we think the worst, it can't get any worse. If we think the best, it always ends up in disappointment. So it is sort of a way to make us not as miserable. For me, it is my coping mechanism - and an expression of reality.

That it's boring and uneventful like the last two days have been.

My worst case scenario for the offseason:
More guaranteed-trades-that-do-not-happen posts and threads with wild Twitter accounts and Deep Throat sources.

I'm thinking a "We are Marshall" scenario on the way to London could be worst case scenario.

But seriously:
Worst case is we overpay for Bryz and trade Carter as a result (for major underpayment ala Gagne-esque trade), and then Bryz has Leighton-esque season ending injury in preseason.

Worst case scenario:

Trade one of Carter/Richards and not get a goalie out of it. THEN Bryzgalov says no deal and heads to the KHL, Vokoun says no and signs with a rival.

Pronger and Timmonen both retire. Holgrem goes out and replaces Timmonen and Pronger's cap hits with Kaberle and Jovanoski.

Overpays to bring back Gagne for $4.5 mil

You did ask for the worst possible scenario

So, really, the bar with Holmgren is pretty damn high at this point... I don't think anyone can guess "worst case scenario" with some of the crap he's pulled.

He's literally capable of doing anything.
I agree with this COMPLETELY. I'll be hoping for the best case scenario (and really thinking there's a solid chance of it happening) and then Homer will eff it all up and I'll be left feeling pissed off all season next year because of his idiocy.

Did anyone see the interview with holmgren. Something tells me Snider put his foot down and wanted them out. Holmgren doesn't look like he was the one to make the call

I don't think there is any doubt about that. I couldn't imagine Holmgren going to Ed Snider and telling him that after committing $110M to two guys for 9 and 11 years a piece, "yeah, so I think we can trade these guys and get some decent young players and high draft picks."

I think your previous comment nailed it, as an organization in general:

I just watched the Holmgren video. You could tellbye was dying to say that he really wished he didn't have to do what he did. He took one for Ed here.
