Oh. Good point...totally forgot that could happen.

McKenzie's final rankings show a 9/10 consensus for RNH at #1. There's reasonable arguments over everything after that.

Eh. They love him, but his contract's up soon. I don't think it's entirely unreasonable.
Its not a weak draft in terms of depth, in fact a number of GM's have gone on record as saying that this years draft is very deep.
What it lacks is star power. There is one or two players in Nugent-Hopkins and Larsson that have the real star power potential, where as all the rest have great player potential. Look back to previous years, while there was always a consensus top pick (with the exception of Tyler and Taylor), the top 10 picks+ all have star potential.
The difference in talent in this years draft after the 1st round and drafts past is no different at all, what is different is the top 10 guys dont all have the super high ceiling like in years past.
Doesnt make it a weak draft in depth, just not many real stars.
IF the Flyers do get the 8th overall pick, I'd say they go for the BPA. Honestly, I think I would be most happy with Zibanejad or one of the defensemen who may be available, be it Murphy, Hamilton (lol...), Siemens or Beaulieu.
I'm glad we got this pick! Nice to look back on some of the thoughts. Funny but Couts wasn't really mentioned much.
Anyway...we really leveraged Carter nicely thus far as I always hoped for. Cousins might even pan out. So Carter helped us get Bryz indirectly and of course Voracek, Couts and Cousins......

The whole time watching the draft i was like hope homer doesnt **** this up..
Get to 4th : Larsson taken.. ****.
5th and 7th threw me a little off guard..
6th was Zabinejad. alright..
We get to 8th and couturier was still there.. I was like "Please dont go for Hamilton!"
And homer listened.
So i feel like i was an instrumental part of getting couturier

The Flyers would not deal Jeff for Voracek and the 8th! Voracek has a ways to go if you ask me. Nope. If you want Jeff you are goung to have to pony up.
I think you meant Pete that the 3rd round pick would be a deal breaker

I was at work and didn't get to see the draft. All I saw was that Boston took Hamilton and I was like "Mother 'bleeping' Holmgren, how could that asshat screw this up when Hamilton fell into our laps at #8 and he DIDN'T take him". Then I got home, jumped on line and when I saw who we got, I was doing back flips I was so happy. then I had to go back through the rest of the picks before us and laugh at all the team that effed up and passed on Couturier so we could get him.
I'm happy with Couturier, but tbh, I wanted Hamilton even when Couturier was available at #8. Glad Homer didn't listen to me, haha. Although, I do think Hamilton is going to be a solid D-man for years to come. Dude is huge and a right hand shot. If he can put the rest of his game together (which seems likely), he'll be a top pair defenseman for a while.
