Dallas and Phoenix are rumored to be playing at Houston's football stadium in a preseason game.

EDIT: Something tangible...

http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/arch...t-reliant.html

Quote:
The Stars are still working on their pre-season schedule, but the Phoenix Coyotes are expected to release their schedule today, and on it will be a Sept. 23 game between the Stars and Coyotes at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

Details on why either team would choose this venue should be forthcoming, but the game is intriguing on a number of levels.

First, it is being held at a football stadium, and that will spark all sorts of talk about whether or not a Winter Classic can be held in the south.

Second, the Stars will face former coach Dave Tippett, who has a history of hockey success in Houston after leading the Aeros to the 1999 IHL Championship.

And third, it could get Houston in the talk as a possible site for an NHL team.

I got to watch Nashville and the Franchise Formerly Known As Atlanta play a preseason game in Richmond.

I didn't have to pay 200 dollars for tickets either.

I guess they liked the 8pm start better. I don't like that because what if the game needs to be postponed, but we have clear skies at 1pm?

Can someone hook me up with two tickes?
If I can get my hands on two, I'll fly over from Sweden.

You'll have at least a 4-month wait. The Flyers have to go though all their STH's first, and who knows about partials.

8 pm?
Monday?
January 2nd?

I don't care about the NFL schedule, the idea of the winter classic on the afternoon of new years day every single year was brilliant and it took them all of what, 3 or 4 years to move away from that.

I just went from being super excited and wanting to go to this game at all costs to being borderline disinterested in the game completely.

You do understand that this is a one year shift to January 2, right? It would be suicide for the NHL to try to compete against the NFL, regardless of how little you care about the league. The main focus of playing the outdoor game is to attract new viewers to the NHL. That's not going to happen on NFL Sunday.
