I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything but I highly doubt a trade gets done. I'm not saying that it wont happen but I really doubt it. Our head scout loves RNH and always praises him and has pretty much made it clear that RNH is our guy. Tambellini's job as a GM would be to listen to every offer. We have seen teams in the past trade their first overall pick and ended up regretting it. Unless Florida pays a hefty price and I mean something like Gudbranson and the third for the first and Gilbert or Smid, I just don't see the Oilers made a trade. I'm not saying that that value is fair... at all. Florida should and will never do that deal, they're better off with Gudbranson and the 3rd but that's the kind of deal the Oilers are going to be looking for. A huge overpayment.

I agree.
Just curious, did Larsson have dinner at Tambellini's house like RNH did?
A lot of his points came on the PP, but he WAS their PP. Red Deer's PP, and their team in general, is nothing without RNH. Everything on their PP ran through him. You also have to give RNH a few points for playing in the WHL where the game is much more physical than the OHL and Q and teams pay more attention to defense.
i understand that but im saying he isnt worth giving anything of value for imo. i would be happy to stay at 3 and take hubs or couts or landeskog or larson. if we traded petrovic to move up i would be pissed

the #3 and Guds for the #1 will never happen. Edmonton could certainly trade down if they think they can use whatever picks and prospects they get form us plus their other first round pick to possibly trade up in to the top ten.
thanks man. If that's the case, it works for me then. As I said, I love Weiss, but we need elite players. Weiss is not, but he's a very solid player and I'm glad he's a Panther.
Nice! Thanks man. I gathered that he was a playmaker based on his numbers, really hoping he can develop his shot more, but only if he's a Panther. If not, I don't give a...
He has everything to be a great goal-scorer, even if he hasn't really proved it yet.
People compared him to Sakic at first because of his release and that "ooeing" factor... But the shot was what we were seeing coming into the year, and a lot of people expected a great jump in that department.
He went a month without a goal at the beginning of the season, so the red flags were there... Then you couldn't touch him without being burned at the end of the season !
But for all that, I would still hold some reserves because of his size and him coming out of the W. I've never been sold on effective high-scoring players from the W.
RNH and Landeskog are really something if you keep listening to the scouts... Those two just have some elite albeit different abilities that jump at you ! Larsson and Huberdeau also in a way... That's mainly Couturier's problem between all those great prospects, it's that the kid doesn't own one "sexy" elite abilities !
Back on topic, remember we traded the first pick two times in a row in the same kind of drafts, and we didn't received as much as you are all willing to give up !
I don't really think it is a big deal if we don't get the 1st overall. I am perfectly fine with taking Huberdeau and keeping the third overall. It's not like Huberdeau is a highly inferior prospect to RNH, even if RNH is the consensus. Huberdeau can help this team out immensely just the way he is.
No chance they get #3 and a blue chip prospect. I think #33 and Petrovic is more than fair.

That is what I pretty much though, just wanted some clarification. Anything more than 3, 33, and Petrovic would just be stupid. Stay at 3, get a Landeksog, Larsson, Couturier, or Huberdeau, and keep the rest of the pieces, and call it a day.

Thanks for the further in depth. I don't want us to give up too much when there's guys like Lando and Hub out there.
And exactly, you never see traded what fans think will definitely be sent for their pick.

I think we'll be trading up with that #33 pick if we can. Tallon has said he wants another first rounder. We can pair that up with another second/third/petrovic/something? so trading up we will lose that option. If we can go #33 + ? and get Rocco G I would be thrilled.

Nope. Only RNH. Out of all the top 3-4 prospects, RNH has been the only one that visited Edmonton. Kind of makes it clear that we are going to select him with the first overall pick. Last year both Seguin and Hall came, so no one really know who we were going to pick for sure but most of the people had a good idea that it was going to be Hall.

That's my point but the thing is that is exactly the kind of trade the Oilers would be looking for, a huge overpayment and that's something that Florida wouldn't ever do. If I were Tambellini and that offer was on the table, I would personally drag Tallon's ass up on stage and announce his pick for him. The thing is both our teams covet RNH very highly, Tallon is sold on RNH and wants him, while our head scout and pretty much everyone in the organization is sold on him as well. The only thing is that we have the advantage because we have the first overall, so Tallon would have to pay a huge price and I think he would be smart not too. You have your goalie, your defence lead by Kulikov and Gudbranson. Draft Huberdeau and I think you guys will end up with the first overall pick next year and draft Yakupov. It's not that I want to see you guys fail, it's actually the opposite. If you guys draft Huberdeau with the third and then draft Yakupov (who I swear is like a mini Ovechkin, just read and watch some youtube videos about him, you'll know what I'm talking about, the guy is a beast), you guys are going to be in very good shape and will be only a matter of time before you guys make the playoffs.
Also, Tambellini today stated in an interview that trading down when you have the first overall pick is usually a bad idea and said that quality is better then quantity.
EDIT: Here is a video for anyone interested. first sentence says it all haha

I disagree with having to give up two blue chip prospects for one to get the #1 overall pick when the #1 overall pick although very good is no crosby/ovechkin etc. I think adding Petrovic and #33 is fair. Do I think that's a knock your socks off type of offer? No. But if Edmonton knows they can get a player at #3 that they're high on and use the #33 and your first to move up, they may strongly consider it. If quality is better than quantity, he may want to move that later first round pick up.

What if it's all some huge smoke screen. Lets face it, if tambellini walked up on stage and picked someone different than RNH, the Edmonton fan base would crap a brick. Haha.
Also, if we need Yakupov for us to even get into the playoffs, we are in far worse shape than I thought we were.

The panthers have to start winning trades as much as they need to start winning games. Im tired of always having the under hand when it comes to making deals i hope tallon is sly enough into "stealing" good players from other teams just like other gm's have stole players from our team.

I edited my post and posted a video but here look at it. The first thing he says, says it all.

I think our entire fan base would be choked.
I think you guys are in good shape and your rebuild is almost complete but I think Yakupov is the type of player that can help your team become not only a playoff contender but a cup contender in the near future, IMO he's that good.

Yup that's my point. The Oilers want RNH, they made it so obvious this year that no one would be surprised at all if/when he gets selected first.

Would you do Bjugstad, Petrovic, Repik, Bergfors and #3 for #1?
