For the record, only the Wings have publicly confirmed their interest in Jagr. The Penguins have not said a word.

Am told Pittsburgh is interested in Jagr only if it's a very low price... My guess that means $1 million or less...

Wings have offered more money than Penguins at this point. That can change in one phone call from Mario. But that's where it stands now.

Hmm well maybe it's a team that needs to dump a little cap space and doesn't want to ruin it.

I think he should go back to Pitt and finish it off where he started it. Who cares who is offering more money? Jagr has more money than he knows what to do with.

Just chatted with Jagr. He still hasn't made a decision and doesn't know how long it's going to take. Said great things about Pitt and Det

What are the cap situation for both the Red Wings and Penguins?

I know Lidstrom just resigned and I don't think the Red Wings believe Jagr is the answer for that missing D (Rafalski).

I'm so disappointed the Rangers aren't going after him hard... At least that's my impression so far.

Zipay believes he will be going to DET.

Said he doesn't believe Rangers aren't looking into it.

The Rangers can't use Drury's $7.05M until he is placed on long term IR which won't be until the day before the season begins.

Just offer him 1 year at 2M-2.5M, seems like that will be the price to get him.

That is peanuts.

Last thing I want is Jagr to destroy us 8 times a season playing on the Pens.

If the Pens sign Jagr, they will be the odds-on favorites to win the Stanley Cup next year.

If Detroit signs him, they will be a contender, but not quite favorites due to Rafalski's departure and their very old age. Except Filppula all their players who scored over 30 points will be over 30 next year. Some will be just 30, but others will be 42.

If the Rangers sign Jagr and Brad, they will be contenders, but again, not necessarily favorites, though depending on the performance of youngsters like MDZ, Erixon, Stepan and Thomas, they could be very, very serious contenders.

The only time anything breaks with him is when the organization leaks something to him.

Sorry guys it's not going to happen, as much as I want it to happen we need to release this pipe dream.

If it happens I will run naked around my neighborhood, that's how confident I am that Sather isn't interested.

I would have loved to have him back though.

Wings have ~$11 mil in cap space, and that's at the current cap which is $59mil. Their only free agents are: Draper, Modano, Patrick Eaves, Drew Miller, Ruslan Salei, Jonathan Ericsson, Chris Osgood and Jonathan Macdonald.

A back-up goalie will maximum get $1 mil for 2 years, when Howard's deal is up for renewal. Most likely less.

Even if the Wings want an UFA to replace Rafalski, by not bringing back Modano and Draper they can probably give Jagr the cash he wants/will get.

The wings may also feel that Jonathan Ericsson is ready for top 4 minutes and opt to sign some cheaper defenseman as bottom 6 guys. I could see McCabe ending up in Detroit and being successful there. Eitherway, they have the wiggle room to make it work. Although I can't say I understand it.

Pittsburgh's in a much more difficult situation, they only have $3mil in cap space at the cu rrent cap. Their defense is alls igned for next year, but they've got some forwards they need to consider re-signing...Dustin Jeffrey, Tyler Kennedy, Pascal Dupuis, Maxime Talbot, Michael Rupp, Eric Godard, and Aaron Asham. Jeffrey and Kennedy will be retained for sure, the others probably won't. They can probably fit Jagr.

i'd hate to see him go to pittsburgh. guy won two cups and he gets boo'd off the ice since he left. now many of those same fans want him back? guess it's the same ones who disappeared for most of the last decade then came back when they started winning.

Yep, pretty much.

I personally hope he does go to Detroit. Seeing him finish his career playing with Datsyuk and with a great chance to win a cup should be exciting for all Jagr fans.

Too many people, too little cap.

Though all of 'em would be cool.
