Boston-Columbus draft day

Boston gets:
8th overall pick 2011

Columbus gets:
Bos 2012 1st rnd pick
Minesoeta 2nd rnd pick 2011
Bos 2011 4th rnd pick
Rights to prospect Zach Hamill C
Prospect Jared Knight C
Prospect Jeffery Penner D

Its a deep draft, so obviously thats good for boston, and there have been rumors that columbus wants young players and might trade their 8th pick for it, so just taking a stab at boston maybe getting 2 picks in a row. in this deal there are no current NHL players so that may make it less realistic, but its possible that if columbus wants more quality players to build around rick nash more picks and prospects could help.
Thoughts?

That's a weird trade. I'm not sure Columbus wants a bunch of prospects/picks for that pick. I would think they'd rather have an NHL ready player if they were to trade the 8th overall. And I don't think Boston wants to trade Knight. I'd say both teams pass. Columbus probably hangs up the phone first, but I don't think I'd do the trade from Boston's perspective either. Unless one of the top 5 prospects fell to 8.

Are you sure you don't want to add two assistant coaches, and possibly a waterboy?

You have it completely wrong. The Blue Jackets are looking for players not prospects that can make an impact right now. That 8th overall will be traded for a player who can come in and make a difference right away.

Both teams say no. Columbus wants a roster player back for the pick.

What's the scoop on Hamill, anyway? Can the youngster crack the lineup?

Sure, an AHL lineup. He's a bust.

Nah.

This reasoning doesn't even make sense for Columbus. We need a roster top 6 center and a certifiable puck moving Dman that can come in and play big minutes. We need both of these things, not more prospects and picks.

Don't think Columbus fans should even bother explaining. This proposal speaks for itself.

That's a really random group of assets coming back to Columbus.

Quality > Quantity.

I think he can crack a lineup just not Bostons and their out of options for him. I think he tops out as a 3rd line centre though.

This doesn't work unless the Bruins add the rights to Carl Soderberg.
