His shot is that hard 90+ MPH maybe? But it's highly inaccurate.

His last article was on how Snow was opening up the idea of trading the #5 pick to speedup the rebuild and look to win sooner rather than later. Letting Martinek walk doesn't work with that methodology. It's not like the club doesn't have the money, it's not like he's not worth the money, it's not like he's not respected by the club. There's no reason why he shouldn't be brought back. He's a great veteran and a leader to a club who will need that kind of presence if they want to be in the playoffs. Terrible move by a snow to not bring him back and another example of how cheap Wang really is.

VOTE NO on 8/1/2011. Let him spend his own money like he was originally going to do.

I think he's too much a risk for a top contending team to sign him. Over his career he's averaged 50 games per season, and only eclipsed 70 games one time. For teams that will be up near the cap and contending for a championship, I don't know if it's wise to add him at around 1.25M (estimate), and then shop for a 7th d-man that you trust enough to play at least 20 games and potentially the majority of the season

Dman signed as of right now:

Streit
MacDonald
Hamonic
Eaton
Jurcina
Mottau

Unsigned Dman:
Hillen (RFA - likely to be signed)
Gervais (RFA - Iffy)
Wishart (RFA - likely and can't be sent down)

You are looking at 8 dman on the big roster as of today. By not signing Martinek you give yourself the option to sign a more physical option on July 1st. If you sign Martinek now you really don't have that option as the only dman you are likely to trade have little to no value anyway.

Marty lives on LI and loves it here (from what I'm told) he has also shown to be loyal to the Islanders. Botta in the past has speculated that its either the Islanders or Europe for Marty and that wouldn't surprise me. They could still sign him easily enough if they aren't able to do what they want on July 1st.

In conclusion: nothing to do with cheapness here. And I love how you finish your post by contradicting yourself.

He seems like the kind of filler guy that the RedWings always seem to go out and get and plug seamlessly into their system.

Is Salei not being brought back? Thought I remember hearing that. If so, he'd be a terrific replacement if Kindl isn't ready for a larger role.

Martinek would likely cost anywhere in between 1.5-2.5 million. The Islanders are better off using that cash and leftover cash to get a better defender such as Pitkanen who isn't injury prone like Martinek is. They need to also focus on getting less injury prone guys along with quality as they can't afford to lead the league in injuries again.

And btw, he tried to spend his own money. There was this thing called the Lighthouse Project, and it sorta got shot down.

I think he would be a great linemate for Cam Fowler in Anaheim since he can play the other side and is a RH dman.

Can definitely understand the logic to that.

He's truly a very good Dman. The injuries accompany him every season though. Still, he's a warrior.

Good man - good player.

First of all NIMBY. do you see the plan for NVMC. Your broke county will actual make money on something.

Second of all not bringing back Marty is not being cheap, he is injury prone and the NYI usually have one of the highest man games lost each year. So maybe you should pay attention to the NHL and not just the Rag$...

Finally, snow hasn't said he was not bringing back martinek, he may still be signed but Radek probably will want to test July 1st as well.

Oh and about Snow trading the pick, that comes up every year, if there is an opportunity that will help the team he will do it

As well your front office and owner are a joke as well. So let's be real.

The more you know
