I'm from Winnipeg, there was word going around that the "Jets" had the chance to pick there first team to open against, since they came into the fold so late. So.. in a way the "Jets" chose Montreal for their first team to play! Kind of an honour, if thats the actual case.

You guys should be more worried about whether or not we play the Bruins in their home opener.

You guys will seriously whine about anything.

This will make Winnipeg's home opener that much more fun to watch.

Sunday is lame but looks like there won't be NFL so whatever.

Honestly, I love it. Habs get to play Winnipeg in their first game back since they lost their team. Kind of sucks it'll be an away game, as Habs fans love to invade arenas and nothing would bite more than to see a good percentage of fans cheering on the other team.

I like this actually. Winnipeg deserves their home opener and I'm happy to be a part of that

My only disappointment from this is that I was looking forward to watching Winnipeg's first home game anyways. I don't expect to become a Jets fan or anything, but I think that will be special to see how their fans react. Now I have to want them to lose.

I will be pretty annoyed if we are playing in Boston's home opener though.

On the contrary, I'd want it.

Can you imagine the motivation it would give the boys? ESPECIALLY Max Pacioretty? I'm sure the guy would turn red with anger. You want to talk about motivation? I could see Subban raising his game to a whole other level as the result of having to watch that. Natural born winners will use it as motivation.

Obviously, their team is gonna be amped for that game.

I'm happy that the habs will be opening their season in an exciting scenario, but these two points will be more difficult to get than they normally would be given the circumstances

Home teams tend to put up a stinker in the stanley cup banner raising night.

So, will we play the night before vs the Leafs, and then an afternoon game opener for the Jets? You can bet we have to watch the B's raise their banner too...

Nope, it was TO then Buffalo. Gio scored that shot that came off the boards in OT. And then we went on that horrid road trip to western canada.

Habs will probably play on the Thursday prior to the Winnipeg game. They can't play on Saturday night if they play on Sunday afternoon.

Why are there so many people freaking out?

I consider it to be somewhat of an honor to be the first team to play in Winterpeg!

Oh god I already see it. The Habs miss the playoffs by 2 points and start a riot because they think it was all Betman's plan to make us play against a clearly superior Winnipeg team on a Sunday afternoon so that we lose to open the season.

I'm not mad about us being Winnipeg's opener at all..

I just don't want our first game to be against Toronto. It's always like a mini-cup victory for them.

True but then there's the upside: when the Leafs win their first game against the Habs, the T.O. medias push the "This year this team is a Cup Contender" angle and the Leafs fanbase buy it. Always. It keeps going for a few weeks and then the Leafs being the Leafs, they start sucking reaaaaal bad and I start smiling.

Habs get to make history once again. What's not to like? I don't think there's a better team to start off against than the Habs, not because they're pushovers, but because of the team's history. For a Canadian team, that's even better.

You guys complain too much.

To anybody whining about starting the season on the road:

The Habs usually ask to start on the road because they like to start with a roadtrip to build team chemistry. Now stop whining.

Awesome we get to open the MTS center and hopefully ruin Winnipeg's party!

It says Winnipeg will open their season on Sunday, not necessarily ours, right?
And those this mean they will play in the NorthEast division?

Because....we're the sun and they're the moon. We're the night and they're the day. We're good and they're evil. We're the habs and they're the leafs.
