Now let's get Gagne and give us an elite scoring line (in my dreams). It's great that we got him and still have Brassard and Vermette so we can bring Johan along slowly in the NHL on the wings. We do need to find a wing to replace Jake, maybe Kubalik or Calvert could get the jump with his speed. Let's get some Dmen in FA, preferably Pitkanen or Ehrhoff (again, in my dreams).

But wow, Howson FINALLY did something!!

You guys did good in this trade imo..

Voracek is good.. but his numbers have stagnated.
And I'm sure you guys have figured out by now.. #8 overall doesnt guarantee a damn thing.

To get Carter (a REAL top line player with a real resume locked up for a LONG time) for magic beans is a good trade in my world.

Congrats.

jake was my favorite jacket

it is going to suck watching him start to finish chances and become a superstar for another team, but i guess i can't complain getting a player like carter.

I hope so. I adored him and always wish him well...except when he plays us now!

I gotta say I'm not surprised. How many of you saw the pict that Brass tweeted yesterday and thought...he cut his hair....why? I did. Kinda sad. Feels like sending a kid off to college. I truly do wish him well and in an odd way am now fairly certain that Philly will be in the playoffs. (seems like all the departed Jackets wind up in the playoffs) Good luck Jacub.

Carter has one of the sickest, smoothest wristers in the game. Just saying.

Jake will soon be an afterthought after about 2 games into the season.

Howson traded a Sugardale hot dog for a juicy filet mignon

Carter is the type of proven center the Jackets have longed for since the joined the NHL in 2000-01. An Eastern Conference All-Star in 2009, Richards has scored 115 goals the last three seasons and will likely pair with Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash.

I think Voracek will continue to improve but will always be a complimentary player. Carter makes things happen. No way Philly trades you a 26 year old #1 center if they didn't have salary cap problems.

This makes Brass and Vermette slot into their capabilities. The Jackets are on the rise. I still don't believe it.

I'm sad. Yet, if it had to happen, I'm glad it happened for a guy like Carter.

And I kinda liked Philly already, so the more I think about it, the easier it is to take.

Looks like I'm going to Philly 11/5

#1 Center - check.

Now to add some PMD defensemen, a backup goalie and perhaps some secondary scoring. Howson's still has a lot of work to do.

Carter-Nash could be the best thing that ever happened to Huselius' career! He will be the playmaker, with two top-quality finishers on his line.

We'll finally find out what Nash is capable of as a NHL player, one way or another. Good, good news.

Also, a perceived weakness at center becomes a perceived strength. Very good news indeed.
