Simmonds is a tough SOB as well but not in Richards mold. Philly's pk will suffer a bit. And if Schenn is a player in 3-4 years the deal may be good for Philly. But that's just not good for a team in win now as the Bryz and Pronger contracts say.

Bryzgalov wants to get paid. He's going to replace one of those contracts. Voracek and Simmonds are both RFAs due for solid raises. I dk if they have the room, but I'm not betting against it.

That's all I can think of also but if the reports of Bryzgalov's deal are even remotely true I can't see how they could possibly afford to sign Richards now.
Personally I think the rumored Bryzgalov contract numbers are insane but at the same time I can see why they want to firm up their goaltending and I understand dealing away Carter to free up the cap room to do that. To trade Richards on top of that and not getting a definitely ready scoring line centerman in return is friggin' crazy though.
