This is just a stupid horrific trade. Richards has one of the worst contracts in all of the NHL. 5.75 freaking cap hit till the dawn of time for a 65pt player.
A 65 pt player who had one great year then dropped in production 25%!!!
For a 65pt player we give up the number one prospect in all of hockey and a guy who could be a rock on our 3rd line forever. O yea and a 2nd round pick!!!
Stupid/terrible trade. Stupid beyond belief.
What's worse is we're stuck with him for a decade. Amazingly stupid.
And what really is annoying is that you know the Flyers knew they had made two stupid signings with both Richards and Carter. So we're the morons that bailed them out.
im just speechless, this is so huge for us. we got the player who we hopes Schenn would peak at, at only the expense of a 3rd liner (who was expendable due to Clifford emergence) and a 2nd round pick

LA balked at given up Schenn for Hesmky last March, but coulnd't resist for Richards, the center they've been craving for years
I just can't understand how people could be excited about this!
62pts followed by 66pts. That's his last two years. You're trying to tell me it's a good thing to give up the top prospect in all of hockey, a damn good 3rd liner, and a 2nd round pick for a 65pt player.
What's worse is that he's a guy who should be a poster boy for why you don't sign people to gigantic long-term contracts. What happens! One amazing year then boom. High of 80's now he's nearly 25% lower in the 60's after he got his money...
Boy... that's just a great idea... trade stupid amounts for a guy who doesn't care as much.
Best thing about this trade, no more silly trade proposals from Leafs fans. As for the trade itself, how can Kings fans not like this one? They just landed a center that can be comparable to Toews and Kesler, who is also signed long-term at a very manageable cap hit, and now gives the Kings two legitimate scoring lines.
Mike Richards is a center that can do it all, he can check, he can pass, he can score, he can also fight. He's been compared to a young Bobby Clarke, and I don't think the Kings have ever had a player like Mike Richards, maybe not since Adam Deadmarsh.
To be honest, I almost had a heart attack, thought Bernier would be heading to Philly. But Wow. We finally get that 1B Centre, I think Richards and Kopi can be interchangeable on the first line.
I'm not sure about trading away Schenn, but Richards is only 26 and already a 30 goal scorer in 2 seasons. Looking forward to hearing Dean's thought process on this trade. Looks like we're making a run for the cup.
This man will be a godsend for us in the playoffs:
Please do this for us when we play the Hawks:
So Excited!
This guy murders people, perfect fit for LA:
Nice potty mouth:

You are nuts man. Richards is what we hope Schenn will become. You can't sit around waiting forever for your flowers to grow. Sometimes you got to go to the florist and supplant the bouquet. How is that for a horrible metaphor?
Doughty's probably shedding a few tears of bacon fat now that Simmers been traded. Sucks to see Simmonds go but I think this could potentially benefit Drew focus wise. Plus Clifford make him expendable.
